I just wanted to ask this question. When would you money grabbing dudes like these boys to shut it down begin a solid off-season program along with have alittle fun? I know my son started last Feb (high school season)then has played summer ball right thru fall ball which ends in Florida at Perfect game.Thats 164 ball games later and lets not forget pratices. So to all you professional instructors when do you shut it down? If it was up to my son he would say never but the body needs rest at some point.
This looks like more of a Camp than a Showcase. My son attended the TCU Camp/Showcase and many of the same Colleges were represented. The coaches from the schools actually worked the camp. They manned the stations. It seemed as if they were paid to be there. They also had approx. 200 players and many were undergraduates.

The advertisement leads me to believe this Camp will be similar.

The camp was a good one, maybe the best we've attended. But it was definitely not a Showcase. Probably a good money maker for the Program.

I'd be very careful about the Showcase advertisement.
This event will be a combination of showcase and camp, as different players will get different things out of it. For the younger guys, it is more of a camp, with college coaches from around the state as instructors. They also gain valuable experience in the showcase / tryout setting. For the older guys, it is more of a talent showcase, with the first half of the first day being run like a professional tryout camp, and then games being played the rest of the camp, so that all players can show their skills at game speed.

When players' teams are not involved in the games, they are doing instruction in the different phases of the game: hitting, fielding, baserunning & pitching. This part of the event allows for personal interaction between the players and the coaches on the field, a situation neither side typically gets to experience with the other before making decisions about each other.
Collegiate Connection is a very professional ran showcase/camp.....one of the best. If you want your child to have exposure to the schools in attendance...attend....if you want your child to have one of the best experiences ever....attend!!!!! Now as far as your child (TimeToStepUP) playing in 164 games...that is your fault that you took him to so many....if you think he needs a rest, give him one....but don't discourage others that may not have had the exposure from attending such a fine camp. My son had many many offers after attending two Collegiate Showcase camps his Senior year. I wish we had known about Craig Farmer and his camp sooner. By the way, my son did receive a scholarship as soon as one could be offered in the spring after this November camp, and the coaches saw him at both Collegiate Connection Camps that he attended.
I'm sorry, but I do feel that these camps are
for the coaches to make extra money. Just the way I feel. This market is becoming very over crowded. It makes the kids feel like they have
to go to these camps inorder to get noticed.
The word will get out on the good players
no matter if they attend these types of camps
or not. Parents are willing to spend lots of
money thinking these camps will lead to college
scholarships. How many of these kids will earn
a college baseball scholarship because they attended these types of camps? I have sat back for years and watch money hungry coaches drain
mom and dads pocketbooks.
Different point of view on this.

1. I agree there are way too many of these types of camps, however this can be a good thing for some who have conflicts and would like to attend.

2. I don't think you need to attend all of these and if you did, you have way to much time and money on your hands. You do need to attend some of these if possible. I found that these type of camps give an honest assessment of where your son is and how he is viewed by others.

3. Parents often have blinders on and what you think is a great attribute, may actually be a weakness under a microscope. Make sure your son is healthy and eager to participate.

4. If they are tired, don't attend. A poor showing does more harm that good.
I have heard that starting in the fall of your Jr. year is when you should focus on showcase events.

Our 15 yr. old team, last summer, went to 1 college showcase, Baylor. It was not our intent to get our kids exposure as much as it was to help make them familiar with the showcase experience.

Next summer, <16, we are planning 2 to 3 of these events. Fall, Jr. year, we will do 6 to 8.

By the way Baylor camp was awesome, first class, run by first class people (Coach Johnigan and Coach Thompson).
