THE MOST FRIGHTNING THING THAT CAN HAPPEN TO A PITCHER, YOU FINISH THE PITCH AND AS FAST AS YOU THREW IT THE BALL COMES BACK TWICE AS FAST. AT FIRST IT SEEMS THE BALL IS IN SLOW MOTION BUT WHEN YOU MOVE YOUR BODY THE REALITY KICKS IN AND THE BALL BARRELS RIGHT AT YOU AT OVER 120 MPH WITH ONLY A FRACTION OF A SECOND TO REACT YOU HAVE TO DECIDE WHEATER TO RISK YOUR BODY AND GET THE OUT OR GET OUT OF THE WAY AND ALLOW A HIT.

QIET FRANKLY THIS IS THE MOST FRIGHTNING THING IN BASEBALL I WOULD RATHER STARE DOWN RADNY JHONSON IN THE BATTERS BOX.

Actually my son got hit on the hip last year and it happened so fast that I wasn't even sure where he got hit. Seemed like he was a little stunned too because he had a little trouble finding the ball. By the time he figured out where the ball was it was too late to make a play. A few years back as a freshman in high school a smoked line drive missed his head by inches, scared the **** outa me but he just laughed and went on to the next batter.
Gotta tell this one... Last year was my sons first year of college ball. Just before the trip to Savannah my son calls me and sez the coach told him he's in relief the 1st game. My wife and I were making the trip down south. After 4 2/3 innings the starting pitcher was losing 8-0. My son gets the call from the pen. Now me, the proud pop is thinking WOW! His first college game he's getting a chance to throw. The pitching coach tells him Look... were down 8-0 and I just want you to throw fastball strikes down the middle and get outs. First pitch.. and the batter hits a rocket right at my son. The ball hit him dead on his pitching arm elbow. All the coaches' go running out to the mound. My wifes and my hearts nearly fall out of our chests. My son shakes off the coaches and gets back on the mound and pitches the next 3 1/3 innings allowing no runs. What a way to start your college career.
Great story Moundmaster
My son just threw his 1st inning in college against Florida State and I was so excited I couldn't believe it. This is such a roller coaster game of emmotions.

Pitcher 101 I honestly have never seen someone hurt real bad. I heard one pitcher was killed when a ball hit him in the chest and stopped his heart. I have seen guys hit in the head, temple and all over the body but non of them seriously hurt. I have seen some scary hits and my son has sat down and the ball whiz over his head. One time he had a line drive blast that headed right for his cup. He deflected it with his glove went right between his legs into center field. It was the only hit he gave up the whole game. I laugh at it now but it was scary at first. I have it on video. His whole body came crashing down with his face in the dirt. Brushed himself off and got right back in the game.
I got 2 for ya. When I was about 11 I was with a friend and his cousin and his friends. All 16 and could hit way faster than I could react. Home run derby and I pitched because I could put it where I wanted it. Next thing I know took a line drive to the right part of my chest. Scary thing and only had time to partially turn. Another time just playin ball with my friends and one of their dads. Again pitchin just lob pitch and got smacked by the kids dad in the same spot only this time a few years later. This time didn't hurt as much considering I was older and bigger but still no joyride. Weird thing is I've never ever been paranoid about comebackers and almost even more confident after the hits.
