Well! I hope you posted it to show your son's nice swing.

I implore you not to be seeking advice over the internet.

But, if you are...make this the only one you take: don't take any advice over the internet. At sixteen, he's on the right path...continue on. I agree with Tewks...but I think if he adjusts his timing and lets the ball travel a little deeper and stops reaching, all those things will adjust.

Using more hands and less arms will allow him to hit the ball deeper. If he tries to hit the ball deeper with this swing, I would expect him to feel like he's getting tied up.

He is shifting then swinging.

The thing to look for is torque in the hips and the hands.....Can this hitter float the barrel if he needs to wait on change of speed?

Is there enough torque in the hips and hands to give him the adjustability?...Is the back hip getting loaded?

BlueDog, do you believe all high-level hitters float the barrel, or is it more a matter of initial handset. For example, I see this in Bonds and Mr. Williams more, but not so much in Pujols or Manny. This hitter appears to be higher with the initial handset than Bonds or Williams.

Further, would you consider Posada to be "floating" here?

Yes....

Sorry I forgot to add the question mark earlier. It was a question. Smile Just trying to get on the same page with terminology.

If Posada is floating the barrel, then the float is initiated by the hand torque aspect of the swing?

This guy gets alot of, I wouldn't teach this swing to a kid, stuff........Wrongly so, IMO....

His swing is a very nice study of hand and hip torque....

This is an extreme example, but still a good example.

Yep! It's balanced though and that's what SB doesn't get. Would you say this guy is opening his front leg with force? Wink
