i tried searching this topic but really could not find an answer for my question so i appologize if this is redundant. my son is a rising sophomore in high school and we are looking to replace his wood bat. was using a bamboo bat that lasted approximately one year with much use in bp and games. was introduced to baum bat. my question is is this bat legal for use in high school and summer ball? anyone from georgia that knows the answer i would greatly appreciate. based on everything i can read on their site it is legal. just not sure why i have never seen one in use if it is such a great bat. i read on another site in my research that the bat was not allowed at a PG event. if PG STAFF sees this post and could reply to verify or refute that would be appreciated as we are playing in a couple of pg events this summer. thanks again for any help and sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Thanks YG

I love Baum Bats and I venture to guess I would love any wood composite bats. They are a great alternative to buying wood for longevity. When I was in Kentucky as head coach I bought two for my team to use strictly for BP and wood bat events. That would be around 18 guys using the same two bats for two years for BP and games with no noticable drop off in performance. The wood bat events we played in supplied a set number of bats with the entry fee and had more one site to buy. We kept using the Baum Bats and never had one break for two years.

Nothing is better than real wood but these bats are pretty close. I can't speak for the PG events but if you get a Baum Bat (or probably another manufacturer) you will be very happy with them.

By the way - Baum Bats don't pay me anything for my endorsement. I just really like them and I do feel they should pay me something but it doesn't look like I'm going to get anything from them.
coach thank you for your reply. based on everything i have read they seem to be great. i have read not one single negative comment. just curious why i have never heard of this bat nor seen it in use. maybe just a small company and not many people have heard of it. im gonna get on for my son and at least have it for bp if it cannot be used in high school / summer wood leagues.

Baum bats are considered "non wood" bats...so as long as they have the BBCOR stamp on the barrel, (they do) they are legal for NFHS play....

you'll have to wait to hear from PG about their events, but if its a wood bat only event, oftentimes Baum bats are banned because they are not "wood bats"......

Of leagues I do, I see few that are Baum, due mostly to the higher inital cost which may be a bit shortsighted due to the lasting nature of a compsite......but at $170+....well...your option I guess....
