Not only does he have #600 homeruns now but he joins the greats babe ruth, barry bonds, willie mays, and hank aaron. Im so glad it couldnt of happened to a better guy for the game. He not only used steroids, used a corked bat, walked out on his team on the last game of the season with the cubs since out of the playoffs. Also the guy who would play his salsa music at a high volume even when teamates (joe girarde) have migranes. I mean this is the guy we should have as our rolemodels. I mean it wasnt just a couple of years ago that sammy and mark were sportman of the year winners. Isnt it beutiful.

I heard talk on the "Ticket" yesterday complaining that there is a double standard when it comes to idolizing NFL players on the juice compared to MLB players. I guess the guy didn't realize he was comparing baseball to football. As high school baseball lovers ~ we at least know there is a difference. It's wrong and out of whack - but there is a difference ~ right guys? Confused I'm still trying to figure it out. Bottom line is two wrongs still don't make it right. Hope Frasier at least gets a car out of the ball deal. Great kid and he works his tail off. Sammy can afford it.
I listen to the Ticket all day unless I'm doing something, and yesterday I heard a lot of different views-not that I agree with any of them. I thought I'd throw out some to see some reaction and cause some insightful discussion (emphasis on insightful).

1. Yes, he cheated, but hitting a baseball is still hard. Taking steroids is not going to make a bad player great. It's going to make a good player great.

2. He cheated twice, it's simple, there's no way he should be in the hall of fame.

3. He cheated, and there was a 4-5 year spike where he hit more home runs in that span than any other player EVER. It's obvious, but as to him making the hall, it may have a better chance since he's "performing" (to a degree) now after he's come back. If he plays well for a few years, I'll vote him in.

4. 600 home runs is 600 home runs. How do we really know where the issue begins and ends? If everyone in this era-hitters AND pitchers- has been using, and he's been able to hit 600 against pitchers also on steroids, then he should be allowed in.

Summer school is out early, so I'm going to stop throwing out views. I'll say once again, these are not my personal views, simply what I heard from callers and hosts. Also, there were many that varied slightly but were similar, I tried to leave those out.

I've lost track of the steriods talk. Someone remind me what evidence exists that Sosa indeed used steriods. I remember the cork. Shame on him....Wonder if anyone else in the hall ever corked or otherwise used an illegal bat or doctored a ball, i.e. "cheated?"

Good opinions on ESPN on Sosa's HOF evaluation: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2875680

According to Kurkjian, no proof of Sosa using steriods. We shouldn't assume without proof should we?
So, Rock Dad -- you're giving Bonds the benefit of the doubt as well? I suppose Sammy just stopped lifting as often. Smile I'm not here to debate the cheating issue. Unfortunately, it appears to be widespread. I wish it wasn't an issue that we need to consider in MLB. Very few basketball players "appear" to be on steroids -- what's that about about?

Every time I turn the dial over to The Ticket, I hear everything except sports talk. I don't care how much beer those guys drink or how many Hooters they've seen, I mean been to.........I could care less. Let's hear some sports on a sports talk show for once, huh??

OP- I must say all of my opinions I showed were from Norm and his show. In my mind, there is no bigger sports finatic than him. He doesn't have all the bits.

... My immaturity may be showing, but it can be funny. I must say, it's an acquired taste so I definately hear where you're coming from!

There's probably not a more knowledgeable sports guy anywhere than Norm, but I just cannot sit for hours and listen to his voice.......it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me for some reason!
