Congrats to ACU players Uechi (SA Marshall), Watten (Coppell), Wilman (Little Elm), Schmitt (Lake Highlands), Sowards (Colleyville Heritage), and Kennedy (Conroe).

Wildcats dominate all-LSC team with 7 1st teamers

ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats dominated the Lone Star Conference South Division in 2007, and on Tuesday they dominated the post-season honors with seven first team selections and all four major award winners.

Sophomore Trey Watten -- who has started games this season at all four infield positions and is 9-0 as a pitcher -- was named the LSC South Division Player of the Year, the second straight year a Wildcat player has earned the award (Joel Wells) and the seventh Wildcat since 1996 to earn the award. Watten also made the first team as both a starting pitcher and utility player.

...

Shortstop William Uechi -- who came to ACU last fall as a virtual walk-on -- earned Freshman of the Year honors in the LSC South, only the third ACU baseball player to earn that honor and the first since Brandon Sisco won the honor in 1992 and Mark Ferry won the award in 1993.

Head coach Britt Bonneau -- who led the Wildcats to their seventh LSC South Division title in his 11 seasons -- was named Coach of the Year for the fourth time after leading ACU to a 44-11 regular-season record. The Wildcats' 43rd win of the season gave Bonneau 450 career victories against just 186 losses.

Aside from Watten, Maj and Uechi, other first team selections from ACU were starting pitcher Chris Wiman, catcher Jordan Schmitt, third baseman Alec Sowards and centerfielder Matt Spotanski. Starting pitcher Brian Kennedy was ACU's only second team selection.

As an everyday player, Watten hit .371 with two home runs and 33 RBI, helping an ACU offense that posted an average of 8.2 runs per game and a .359 batting average. But it was with his arm that Watten dominated the opposition, ringing up a 9-0 record to go along with 68 strikeouts and an LSC-best 3.38 ERA in his first season on the mound.

...

Uechi was a relative unknown when the season started, but his work at the plate and in the field have made him one of the top freshmen in ACU baseball history. Uechi is hitting .368 with 36 RBI and 10 stolen bases offensively while committing just seven errors while starting all 55 games at either second base or shortstop.

Wiman has followed up his 10-2 sophomore campaign in 2006 by posting an 8-2 mark with a 4.29 ERA in the regular season. Wiman -- who has 18 wins through two seasons as a Wildcat -- has 69 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings of work.

Spotanski, Schmitt and Sowards have been the catalysts for the Wildcat offense in 2007 as they have combined to hit .367 with 145 runs scored, 214 hits, 37 doubles, 12 triples, 16 home runs, 137 RBI and 33 stolen bases. ... Sowards, meanwhile, leads the Wildcats with 48 RBI to go along with seven home runs and a .337 batting average.

Kennedy is 9-2 with a 4.75 ERA going into the post-season, earning second team all-LSC South honors.

Uncle Ethan,

TRAIN IS NOT MR WATTEN. I AM POSITIVE THAT IS THE TRUTH.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt on this one. You must not have been paying any attention to the whole "Who is Train" debate.

I do not know who he or she is, yes they have a knowledge about Coppell baseball and the Dallas Tigers but "he" also has an equal knowledge about Flower Mound baseball and seems to have a problem with their coaches.

Train still might be a Coppell parent but I have no clue who it is other than it is not Mr Watten. That I am certain about.

Most likely the mystery has been solved and that caused the Train to derail / maybe take a new identity on this blog. You might want to look back over some recent threads to get a clue.

Please stop trying to assocaite Train with Mr Watten.
Yes, it's Friday and I just got back from the courthouse and am ready for a great weekend of baseball and the graduation of my oldest from ACU. How good can it get. Since I am now out of the closet, so to speak, I just wanted to thank eveyone who posted to this thread for your kind comments. Have a good, dry and victorious weekend.
