Stadler and Long are the only two Virginians named first team Louisville Slugger Pre-Season All-Americans, as named by Collegiate Baseball magazine.
Stadler as LHP, Long as a 2-way player (LHP/1B).
Stadler is an 18-year-old senior at reigning AAA state champ James River. He was first team All State as an outfielder last year as well as honorable mention All State as a pitcher. (Which makes me wonder why Collegiate Baseball didn't include him in the 2-way category, but I won't quibble.) He was also Times-Dispatch All Metro Player of the Year as a junior.
Long is 19 and a towering, intimidating force on the mound and at the plate for St. Anne's Belfield in Charlottesville.
Interestingly enough, these two will face off in a preseason scrimmage at STAB on March 5!
