I wouldn’t bet on that

I know some people don't like him but I think he did a pretty good job with the reds. He isn't an easy person to work with and ultimately he quit with the reds because he felt he wasn't given enough autonomy and the new GM wanted to bring him back with reduced autonomy which he didn't liked but I think it could be a good hire for the red Sox who had been terrible at developing pitching.

But of course he doesn't have magical skills either and it will be tough to turn that around.

The Sox have some pitchers on their staff with more potential than they e shown. But, I believe Boddy’s hiring is based more on the group of prospects the Sox have at the AA and High A level.

Back when Matt Barnes was in AAA the Sox had six quality prospect starters in AAA. There were scouts who said the PawSox staff (Matt Barnes, Henry Owens, Anthony Raynaudo (LSU), Brian Johnson (Florida), Brandon Workman (Texas) and Allen Webster) was better than the Rangers (5+ ERA). Owen’s was supposed to become a stud. Barnes was the only one who stuck. This shouldn’t happen with so many top prospects.
