I've had the pleasure of working one of Trouts Cal League games and seeing him play as a spectator at several others. It was obvious he was the real deal.

His move from MiLB centerfields to MLB centerfields has been seamless. His coverage of the turf and his speed to make plays during his first ML game were incredible. He looks like he was born in centerfield.
Mike played in the same travel organizaition as my son for a year or two. Every one who coached him knew he was special at 15 years old.

I was watching one of his games when he was 16 as he scored from first on a hit into the gap. After the game the 3rd base coach was talking about that play and how as he was watching the ball to see if he should wave Trout home. By the time he looked down for him he was already past 3rd base down the line for home. His speed is off the charts.

Angels fans should have fun watching him play for the next 10-15 years.

One local report is that he is due to go back to AA.

Here is the difference I see between Trout and Harper.

When I see Harper play, I see a talented young man working hard at baseball. When I see Trout play, I see a talented young man enjoying playing baseball.

Trout plays with a joyful abandonment and just radiates how much fun he is having. For me, he is more fun to watch.
Trout is the type of player who can go 0-4 and still have a huge impact on the game. Harper is the type of player who can go 1-4 and win the game for you with a 3 run jack.

They are both very special talents. They just are going to impact the game in different ways over the course of their careers. But from looking at Trout's body I have no doubt he is going to develop into a serious power threat before his career is over. And to bring that type of speed along with it is very very rare. He is special.
Yeah, huge Angel fan here, and Mike Trout is very exciting. Too bad Tim Salmon isn't still playing....!

I believe the Angel's have a future dilemma/opportunity regarding Trout and current rookie CF Peter Bourjos. Bourjos definitely lacks Trout's hit/power potential, but Bourjos has serious, serious speed, covers unbelievable ground in CF, runs great routes to the ball, plays premium defense and is now batting .272 on the year to boot. What if Bourjos blossoms by next season into a legitimate lead-off hitter? Do you eventually move Trout or Bourjos to a corner OF spot to accommodate both, or do you package Bourjos in a trade? I really like Bourjos, and I'm sure every Angel's pitcher loves him roaming CF as well.
