Converting Video Files to AVI

Hoping someone can help me.

I am TIVOing games and then transferring them to DVD using a DVD recorder. All is fine with that.

But, when I put them into my computer they are listed as VOB files???

How can I convert them to AVI files that I can then use to get clips from to use with Video Software applications?

Hope this makes sense.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Great question. There are many programs out there that can do this. You can purchase a program like SONY VegasStudio (about 100 junior bacon cheeseburgers), or you can download a program like avi.NET 1.0 (and the associated codecs) that runs you NOTHING.
