I was in Cooperstown in 2004 for a 12yr old torunament. The hotels are really pricey for a Best Western it was 150 per night. Some of the other families stayed at some of the B&B's and all worked out well. I didn't hear a bad thing about any of them. It really is a nice laid back area so I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you chose. You could try going to www.cooperstowndreamspark.com and click on family guide and then accomodations. This is the site for 12 yr olds but it might give you some ideas on where to stay. I hope it helps.
When my son played in Oneota (at SUNY) we rented a house....

It worked out GREAT and was about $750.00 for the week...

With downtime between games, it was nice to come "home", chill out on the porch with other team families, watch the siblings ride their bikes and simply enjoy the community.. We met all of the neighbors..

Becuase it was a house we ate good too!!!! (very - important!)

If you are playing in Cooperstown you might want to look further north..

Good Luck - have fun!

I stayed with one other family in a house that was called Chestnut Street Apts. We had 2 beds and a pullout for 5 people. Our location was a little noisy because we were at an intersection so if you opened windows, don't plan on leaving them open when you sleep. We went last summer when it rained so bad they cancelled most of the games. One thing to consider is the families that rented out a bit had to evacuate because of the flooding. Now last summer was one of their worst so more than likely you won't have to suffer through it. I am used to clean hotel rooms, not 5 star or anything, but an old home doesn't always keep the bugs out. And with all the rain, I was sleeping one night and the dropped ceiling fell on my bed. We had several leaks and nothing was really fixed, just bandaided with pots to catch the water.

It is a fun experience but a fairly pricey one. One family told me since they brought their entire family for the "experience", it cost them about $5000. This was one of the families that had to evacuate and she said she would rather have gone to Hawaii. Because of the water we were taking the boys into town and feeding them there instead of at Cooperstown since the rain got boring after the first day.

Not trying to sound pesimistic because the boys do have fun and it is unique. Just wanted to share our experience.
