Has anyone had success getting a certificate to Cooperstown Dream Parks by registering without a grandfathered certificate?  Our team is asking for $ for next year.  I've heard that if you don't have a certificate you can count on only really bad options (during school, late in the summer.  Anyone have any experience with this?

I actually just emailed them asking about getting a team in for next year without a certificate.  The reply was that teams playing this year and teams with certificates get first shot.  $1000 deposit due with registration and you'll find out by mid/late October if you get a spot....then $2000 more is due then to secure your week with the balance due later.

Thanks Buckeye.  That's what I understand from the website. However, what I'm wondering is how it really works.  I know teams that have had to go during school or in August during football season because they didn't have a certificate to use.  If that's the case this is a waste of time and we should focus renting one form someone,  going to the All Star Village or Ripken in SC.

The "season" at dreams park is pretty well defined.  It runs from June through the end of the summer in NY.  When my 2016 went it was the final week of the summer there and I have zero complaints - even though hurricane Irene swept through and wiped out Sunday that year.  Aren't the dates for each week posted?  If you think those weeks won't work, don't do it.

It's not a question of the experience and it's not  my team or decision. its my kids team asking for $ to put down and hope for a good date which I'm guessing is a pipe dream and we'd be better off going to All Star Village.  My question was really has anyone registered without a ticket and gotten a decent date?  The season is defined as June 1 to Sept 2.  Who would want to go the last 2 weeks of school or in late August/early September?   Just wondering about experienced with a Dreams Park registration without a ticket.   Thx

Nothing wrong with going the last two weeks available in Cooperstown.  The competition is a little more manageable for a newer team and the weather is nice.  We went during prime time (with a certificate) with a very good team and were done by We'd afternoon but had a great time.  Other teams I know went the last week of August (without a certificate) and had a great time.  The less competitive teams seem to be registering later in the year.  Maybe it's because they are newer teams that don't have grandfather certificates?  Either way, I do know a few teams that went last year without certificates but they did end up with late mid to late August dates.  The sooner you get your $ in and name on the list, the sooner you are penciled into a date.

Are far as the last couple of weeks at Cooperstown - in NY the summer travel season (at least where we are) ends around the first week of Aug followed by playoffs that sometimes take you into mid-Aug.  The late Aug date allowed our team to play our summer season and then practice a bit before Cooperstown.  It was several years ago so my memory on who was there is foggy but there were a lot of NY teams the week we went (along with teams from all over).  When our town summer team went 2 years ago they weren't grandfathered in (it's the only time we've sent a team) and they ended up right in the middle of the summer - so they had to schedule their summer season around that week.

This year's town team (12s) tried to get a week at Dream's Park and could not.  So they are going to All Star village and while I didn't work on it with them it seems like there was a lot more flexibility.

All dates are decent dates, it is an ubleiveavle experience for parents and kids.  Keep in mind, there is no air conditioning in the cabins, so in my opinion, the earlier the better.

My son's team got in last year without a certificate.  The coach sent in the money on the first possible day that he could, before the team was even formed, to be the first on the list after all the certs were used.  It worked, they got week 2.

IMO The last week at dreams Park is named champions week for a reason. The best players are there for that week because the travel season is over and most of the little league teams have lost. Many of these kids play on pick up teams that are formed just to win that week. When my son was there 3 years ago, the team that won champions week had kids from NY to Florida.
