Not sure which Cooperstown tourney you mean, but Dreams Park more often than not has a waiting list a mile long. There are some teams that are sort of grandfathered in, meaning they've had a team in it since the very beginning of the place, and so have a spot reserved. other teams are newer and have to apply for a spot, while other teams get in due to a team dropping out and a spot opening up.

Chances are the team you crushed has been going down through the years in one form or another. Admission to the tourney isn't based on how well a team does. When we went years ago it was because one guy in our town had had a spot from the very beginning and would form a team every year.
I understand CDP turned down 3,100 teams this year - with an 11 week season that is almost 300 teams per week. Getting to go has a lot to do with being "grandfathered" under a team or organization that has been there for several years or at least the previous year, and getting all your information and payments to them in a timely manner. I also understand they have long range plans to significantly expand the facility to take in more teams.
I'm here in Cooperstown for the tournament this week at CDP. During opening ceremonies they announced that they did turn away 3,100+ teams for this year. Is that number legit? Who knows.

I really don't know how we got in as a new team this year, but we did.

I can't imagine they want to expand this thing much more since they wouldn't be able to finish the tournament with much more than the 96 teams they already have each week.

By the way, Roger Clemens was here yesterday to see his son pitch.

Try Cooperstown All Star Village....AWESOME facitlites and hospitality...

The competion was good and they have AC in the dorms with absolutlely no drainage problems...During the floods of late June, they lost one single game...Not per team...One **** game...

Awesome...I'd go back every year, if I could talk my wife into having 8 boys 8 years in a row...

BTW...CDP turned us down, only offered the NCTC week and we were already back in school...
