Yea,

Everone is hurt, Cole won't ever pitch again, Johnny Walsh won't ever catch again...only pitch hit game winning triples and Johnny Kaskow's hand is so bad he hasn't played a single inning a first since the Austin trip.......NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe what you want, the team keepings winning, all three players played last night to some level.

At this point, consider Coppell the underdog, Marcus will most likely beat Coppell and they will be lucky to get into the playoffs.

A bit of an overreaction to someone giving your ballclub a compliment, don't you think? A simple, "Our guys are a little dinged up," would have sufficed.

Just having fun, trying to be lite. I didn't read the post as a compliment, just a bait, but
I could have been wrong.

I'm really enjoying watching all the boys play well. Also, trying to address the injury thing without getting into details, easier to coment now that the "press release" was issued. But really, the injured boys are coming back to full strength and none of them ever totally left the line-up and they are looking forward to being at full strength soon. But in the meantime, the boys that are getting the job done need to be given their due. Also, if everyone forgot about Coppell until the playoffs that would be fine.
Yeah, I'm surprised that Coppell isn't in the top 10. They've got really good players up and down the lineup. They may be dinged up a little, but they will probably be ready when it matters. And I don't think that Watten is a substitution, but rather a strong No. 2 guy. In addition to the other guys you hear a lot about, Kettler is a way underrated soph that could hurt you. Sorry Train, while you don't think the younguns can make a difference, take out Walsh, Kettler, and Elkins and play a few. Let's see how you do.

So is DaLa in the rotation now?

I think he might get the start on Friday but don't hold me to that. Nieder should start on Saturday against Allen. As for a rotation, I'm not sure coach really has any thing set past Watten, after that I think he has some starters and some releivers and De La has done both. It depends on when you uses who as to who starts the next game.

I think it's fairly safe to say that Coach E will take his chances with 3-game series this May. If CG is out (pitching) for a few more weeks, his injury may turn out to be a blessing for the Cowboys. They should have 3-4 guys (plus Green) ready to contribute on the hill entering the playoffs.

Meatsdad -- tell us a little about Nieder -- his style, best pitch, etc. Will Meat get a chance to throw in the non-district games? Thanks for your kind words about East -- we have a long way to go.
PD, we hope you are right and we hope for everyone to be back soon and stay healthy. I think health will drive a lot of the District play around DFW as the season heats up.

Nieder was the #1 on JV last year, he had a good year, I don't remember him losing a game. He is a lefty that mixes speeds well and uses three pitches to keep hitters off balance. He has added some velocity this year to his fastball that makes the curve that much more effective. He throws strikes or near strikes 80% +, but he can throw a first pitch curve for a strike or fastball or change-up. This kid had learned how to use what God gave him well. If more kids studied and worked on their craft like Eric that would earn them more mound time like Eric. I probably gave away to much information but I don't think it will matter. Either he will fool them or he won't. I am not saying he is great, he just pitches well and gets good results. We will soon see how he handles the FM, Marcus, Hebron or the like. Actually pitching against a heavy hitting team like Allen should give him a good measuring stick to gage his own progress. Eric will use the experience to adjust to how to pitch to better hitters.

A guess the lable would be Crafty Lefty.

As for Meat, he and I both are just glad to have him get the varsity mound time he has this season. God willing he should see some action on Saturday as well. He did pitch last Friday in District against RL Turner and have two scoreless innings to complete Nieder's no-hitter. I think we all know Turner hasn't won a game yet and they continue to struggle. But he did do what a pitcher is suppose to do against teams like that.
MeatsDad,

In your earlier post I was not trying to bash on Coppell and their players. I agree they have many prospects on the team who could play baseball at the next level and thought they should of been on the "State Rankings". I was just simply wondering because at last game I watched of Coppell Walsh wasn't playing and Cole Green was just hitting. Then I heard something from the Coppell parents that Johnathan Kaskuw's hand was hurt.

And yes I agree with your distic it will be a battle every night. I wish the best for the Coppell program and help all the injuries get better.

I was on a bad role last night. After I reread your post I could see you were just wondering. I do like to answer some questions with the idea of getting things rolling on th board. I still wish more of you guys ( not you TxHS) would answer me with team info and insite. Thanks for asking the question.
Ok, I'll answer the original question -- can't promise much insight.

I was not surprised that Coppell was not listed in the top 10. They are a very solid team with great talent -- like 50 other teams in the early season. I'm not saying there are 50 teams with the same talent, but many have very nice win-loss records at this point. Coppell has a few losses, also like many other teams. Obviously, most coaches have not seen them play --- the early season polls are based on "potential", names, and tournament records. Coppell may win state -- but our projection of the final poll would be worth even less than these early ones. To be redundant, we all like lists -- we enjoy lists.....they promote dicussion....but how many teams are penciled into the playoff brackets based on these lists?

Coppell may win state -- their lineup is strong -- they have quality kids that demostrate character. They seem to have great depth. But there are several teams in Region 1 that are also equally qualified. The polls are what they are....a talking point for 6 more weeks.

And finally.....I wouldn't be surprised if they appear in the next list. Smile
