Coll. Heritage 1 Coppell 2

R H E
Coll. Heritage 1 2 1
Coppell 2 3 1

Individual Pitching / Hitting
HR--HER: Kyle Kubitza 1.
2B--HER: Sammy Lett 1. COP: Chad Kettler 1.
WP--Danny Malone
LP--Kyle Duncan

I knew this series was going to be a battle but the way the two starting pitchers throw really defines what it means to compete. I know the Colleyville players and fans are thinking they shouldn't have lost this one. But I feel Coppell deserved this one just as much. Now it is down to Colleyville Heritage and a battle of Gilbreath and Hermans.
"but, the game was won by one player - Danny Malone. My hat off to him".

Did he play all nine positions?
Did he get all the hits?
Did he make all the coaching decisions?
Did he have all the rbi?
Did he make all the putouts?

If you can answer no to any of the questions, I would say the game was not won by one player!

Congrats to Danny on a great game, but please, give the other players some credit.

Malone pitched a great game and so did Hill for Colleyville. Obviously Kubitza's HR and Kettler's double were big hits, but IMHO, the best at bat of the game was the second to last batter for Coppell, Pratt. Pratt had four foul-offs with two strikes (and two outs) before walking to load the bases. Earlier in the inning, Morris' daring advance to 3b on a fly ball to leftfield, and this his dash home on the resulting error to tie the game changed the momentum.
Coppell 9
Colleyville 2

Hermans had a no hitter through 5 but did hit few batters and walked a couple.

It is hard to gage what this series might have been like if Colleyville had their #1 available. Regardless, it is hard to win with just 3 runs in a series. Way to go Cowboys!!!! I beleive the Cowboys play Arlington Lamar next. I think the Cowboys have found their bats in time for the next playoff series.

Yes, Colleyville certainly has the athletes and even Major League genes! What happened?

They got beat by a better team all three times this year.

What a gracious winner you are...NOT! Feeling a little cocky are you? Not that it matters but with comments like yours makes me want to root against Coppell the rest of the way. Go SGP!

No insult meant. In fact I still look at the Panthers as one of the best teams Coppell played this year and if one or two small things went the other way it could have been Colleyville moving on and haven been 3-0 against the Cowboys this year.

I would have been routing for the Panthers.

What I meant by a better team is that Coppell had a deeper and better pitching rotation with more skill players at more positions than the Panthers. The Cowboys also executed a few plays a little better than the Panthers and that was the difference in all three of the games.

I think the Panthers have an excellent program especially the head coach and with your two starting pitchers coming back next year (hopefully both healthy for the whole year)the Panthers will be hard to compete against.

There really is nothing cocky meant by the statement. It was more a comment on the fact the Coppell has played well all year and that the Panthers losing to the Cowboys shouldn't need to come with any excuses.

It will be interesting to see how Coppell matches up against Arlington Lamar. I know Lamar beat SGP and they are now in the next round so they must have a good team with a solid roster that should compare to Coppell's roster.
