Awful timing too, after a long season and just starting to go back home.

This is a very unexpected tragedy. I was a fan of Cory when he played for the Phillies. He didn't have the best stuff, but he always went out and pitched his best.

May he rest in peace.

Cory and my youngest son were teammates a few years ago. I talked to Cory and liked him immediately. He was a tough pitcher and a great guy. This is very very sad.

My thoughts go out to the wife and 6 yr old son. I shed a tear.

I met him on a plane to Tampa a few years back, and when he heard me talking about where I was from he took time to talk with me. His wife and young child were traveling with him and I remember being impressed with what a nice family they seemed to be.

A friend of mine from HS whose brother I played ball with passed away the same way a few years back.

My condolences and best wishes to all of his family.

To anyone who would listen - I have been bashing the Yankees for sometime now..........today I stand silent. Baseball is a game, life is for real.
