Cost of Attendance

The new NCAA guidelines now require D1 schools to award to 2008 recruits scholarships with a value of at least 25% of the Cost of Attendance -- unless the student will be playing as an invited walk-on. I think COA includes tuition, room, board, fees, and a specific amount for books. Is this correct?

How can we go about discovering a specific school's Cost of Attendance, as defined by the NCAA?

Look for Tuition & Fees at each school you're researching. Registrars Office/admissions office will have the info posted, & will include estimated books, travel, etc.

Thanks so much for your help. RobV, that link was what I was looking for.

Question: one school I looked up listed a 2007 cost of "books and supplies" of $1,020. Would the new 25% minimum scholarship have to cover 25% of this entire amount -- as opposed to an unrealistically low "official amount" for books (say $400) -- in addition to tuition, room, board and fees?

Some schools have a set amount for books as a atheletic dept , say $200 per semester, at the end of the semester your books are turned back in with no resale,hence, $200 out, none back. This holds costs down for both the family and school.It would be a excellent question to ask to the recruiting coach.
