OK so I went to a playoff game last night, and it was the first high school game I've seen all year. When I got home, I had to take an advil after listening to all the cowbells being shook up in the stands. When I was playing back in 05, the cowbell thing was just taking off, but only a couple of teams do it. Is it a prevalent annoyance now-a-days or is it still just a few select teams?

Also, what is the deal? Is the torturous sound of metal on metal coming from the bleachers supposed to make the hitter strike-out or add a couple mph to the fastball? After a couple of years away from high school baseball I'm still trying to sort out the mysteries of this science. Your thoughts...

It's just something to under your skin. when your not there, you can't hear it.
actually, I have seen this a lot more at softball games usually it's just a lot of trash talk at baseball games (which I don't care for either). Way back when I played we did it on the cool, up face to face where nobody else could hear it. and we did fun things like throw dirt into the top of the batters shoes or spit our toobaccie juice on the base where they would have to grab it when they were diving back to the base. Those were the good ole days.
