I have a scholarship offer to one USCAA school which has a pretty good baseball team. Their is one NAIA school I wanted to attend and their coach emailed me back the other day saying that He cant offer me a scholarship because my ACT and GPA was low. The NAIA coach said I would have to sit out until the next season. The USCAA school said they will offer scholarship money . What should I do. I really want to goto the naia school because it has a rich academic program but I will have to sit out. I have already been accepted into both schools. What would be the benefits of sitting out a year. I also realize that baseball isnt everything grades come first..How would I work on my game??Please help because my parents told me I need to make a decision soon.. Thanks..

Congratulations on the two scholarship offers!

If your education is, as it should be, your greatest concern, then the NAIA may prove to be your best option. Especially if you do not have aspirations of playing beyond college .

On the other hand if baseball is what drives you and you "plan", and are working toward a professional baseball career, then one year sitting may impact you.

Realize what your intermediate and long term goals for your life are, that should help you with this decision making process.

Best of luck to you!

Congratulations. You are fortunate to have a choice of offers. The rigors of balancing college academics and baseball are significant. Not many can finish a bachelors degree in even 4 years, given the time demands of baseball. Most would rather finish their college career on the field and not in the stands. Sitting the first year is not the end of the world and gives you the chance to get used to the academics and improve your baseball skills. Good luck.
