What do you recommend for an 8-12 year old? Crossover Novice package or Jaegar Bands?

I don't know what either of those things are, so I say neither. He's 9!!
I recommend letting him play ball with his community/schoolmates. Allow him to love the game of baseball. Don’t make it a job at 9 years old.
Neither......He's 9!
go see a counselor please....
I'm going to swim upstream on this one. I don't know anything about Crossover, but a 11-12yo, especially if he is a pitcher, would benefit from using Jaeger bands as a warm up before throwing and to strengthen his shoulder, and doing so might help prevent rotator cuff issues down the road. Good arm care habits should be introduced early.
Just because they market bands to this age does not mean they will help a youth player. 8-12 years old.... I mean dang man what's the point? More velo at 10 years old ? .... play baseball,go fishing, camping, whatever other sport he wants to try. Kids at this age are growing and changing so much , you are still a ways from puberty.
JCG respectfully I cannot disagree more with your assessment of using these bands to help a youth pitcher for warm up and strength. They can warm up by be tossing and running.... pitch count and be done for the week.
Please at 8-12 years old do not have a pitcher do band work... you have to know your body, have an understanding of how your body works and be mature enough to physically to do these exercises. We have no idea who this player is his body or anything else about his medical history.
Learn to pitch to batters, learn to spot the change up and fast ball... have a pitch count and stick to it win or lose, then go to the Dairy Queen after the game. 9 years old, sheet I have jeans older than that.
A nine year old does not need an off season training program. He needs to move on to the next sport. Have a nice day, Mr. Marinovich.
My kids are now 21 and 19 and the old fart in me can't resist telling them when I'm wearing a jacket or belt that is older than both of them. Unfortunately, the jeans would not fit. Anyway, not expert in this but I am expert in going for ice cream, and also in seeing 13-14yo's having shoulder and elbow issues. I don't know it for a fact but I believe band work may help as a preventative measure -- especially at 12yo, which I'm sure you'll agree can be a physically mature age for many players, so it's at least worth looking at, or asking a kid's sport's doc about if there's concern.
I will bend to a 12 year old that has a bigger body, a coach or trainer that can introduce the player to bands in the hopes that after puberty , his knowledge and technique is such that he can then begin to see results ..... I guess I am gun shy, I have seen more than a few HS players hurt themselves trying to use bands incorrectly, at the wrong time, without supervision.
So what age is best to start. They market them at 8-13 years old.
IMHO it's not about age... but the players physicality and usually that's when most players are older 14u and up. What is it that you feel these bands are going to do for players this age? Make them better baseball players, prevent injury ? I don't want to sound curt I just don't get it.
2018 started using them when he was 15.5 and really started using them as part of his overall arm program at 16.5
Bands are good to get your shoulder and arms loose when you have something to get loose... if your a 11 year bean pole you are just stressing the tendons, joints etc... you won't get anything from it likely to injure the arm, shoulder etc...
long toss program is a better idea.. and pitching is not about strength , it's about explosiveness. IF this is about pre-game and you are 9 or 10.... whew... run a few poles...throw with a buddy and throw a few pitches... I mean dang most pitchers this age, have no idea how to pitch anyway... so much more to do than bands to make them better
I mean to each his own, but I doubt you see much difference using bands at this age.
Agree. I see a lot of 16-18 year olds doing the crossover for pregame before throwing.
I think it is maturity that should decide if bandwork should be pursued. My soon to be 14yo started around 10, but wanted to do it because of the older kids did it (he will deny it) and to get stronger. He was mature enough to use them correctly and he felt it improved his strength. My yougner 2nd kid now 11yo is not mature enough to use them nor has any desire other than to lauch water balloons or worse yet, rocks and other destructive objects.
