Boomer...

I will be lucid for a minute or two. This post may not be here later when sox fans are looking for it.

The Cubs are a better team than they were but that wasn't too hard. They are still a big mystery and I think they could be anywhere from 81 wins to 91 wins. If everything fell into place maybe a few games better. They should be competitive in The NL.

I think the sox were a lock for 07 in The AL Central until they made their moves for the future. They may help in the future, but they won't be as good in 07. I look for The Tigers to drop down to about 85 wins this year, so the sox will be in the hunt.

FastballDad.....

If the Cubs can win that many games, I think the city will go crazy, which means they have a great shot at winning their division.

The Sox will be interesting to watch again this year. I think for a change, Chicago will have have two pretty good teams, baring injuries.

On a side note, and don't tell anyone, but I saw Cotts doing some hitting drills today. S-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-, don't say you heard it from me!
Carl,

Get over it! Cubs will not finish in 3rd, but the sox may again like last year even though they had the most talent! In spite of drawing 3 million fans, the sox bury the checkbook and pocket the cash. Clever to fool gulible sox fans by saying they are building for the future, or we traded one starter for two (never mind neither one has even sniffed a starting job in the ML)
FastballDad,

Just my opinion. Honestly, I don't believe my comments make me look "gullible" at all. I have facts. You have an unproven team, that, if they come together could be understanding. Yet, spring training hasn't even officially started yet. Dude I want the Cubs to win; I watch them everyday, I just don't cheer for them agaisnt our Sox. The unproven starters we have are kids with tremendous upside, it will all come together.
You're right Soxnole. But one of the differences between the Southside and the Northside is that the Cubs WILL spend the money to sign one of baseball's very best starting pitchers. If they wait and try to sign him later, $15 million per won't be enough. Teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Dodgers, Mets will hover around his agent like flies on ****. I wish more of his teamates had the same fire in their belly as he does.
Right again Rosy. If they don't lock up Zambrano while they can, they may as well forget it. All the other additions don't mean so much if they don't keep him.

Now that the sox have returned to their miserly ways, it's interesting that they have managed to convince their fans that it is the right thing to do. pssst.... sox fans...I'll let you in on a little secret.....that "saved" money is not going in your pockets, but rather thsoe of the partners who own the team.

TP...Garcia is and will continue to be a good pitcher. I think the Sox made the right move by getting 3 pitchers with high ceilings.

I just don't believe the Tigers will have so many players with outstanding years like they did last year.

I think Sheffield is not the personality the Tigers need.

Love their (Tigers) power arms (they have to work on their fielding), but the Sox are a match now in the bullpen.

Beenthere,

I'll never be a fan of Kenny Williams but I think trading Garcia was the right move. But I just wonder what you and your White Sox fans would be saying if Gary Sheffield was in your outfield this summer. I doubt that anyone on the southside would be worrying about his "personality". He's a tremendous hitter, a winner and will bring part of that Yankee attitude to the Tigers. Leland showed that he could handle some "personalities" like Pudge and Mags. JMO.

I was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan in 1957. Liked the New York Giants, too.

Not sure when I became a Cubs fan...Sometime when Banks, Baker and Fondy were in the infield. Hank Sauer played the outfield for them. I remember Paul Minner pitched for them. Went to the games during the week when they had 4000-8000 fans in the stands. 15,000 on weekends. Cleaned up the stands with other kids after games...picked up litter and "plastic" seat cushions and you'd get a free general admission ticket to a future game. Oh, those days!

Switched to the White Sox when Richie Allen joined the White Sox....thought at least the Sox were "trying" to do something. Took the Sox 30 years to do something. Cubs are at over 100 years and counting.

Still wondering with Pinella on board with the Cubs....Why didn't the Cubs spend the money with Dusty at the helm?

Was joking with a fellow Cub fan the other day that over/under for mention of a Wood or Prior injury would be about 2 weeks. Heard on radio Wood out 4-6 days with rib soreness. He fell while getting out of a sauna or hot tub.
Hopefully both have productive, healthy seasons as they seem like good guys and are immensely talented. Looking forward to opening day when Zambrano throws a gem shortly after signing his 5 year 90 or so mil extension.
I could only laugh when I heard the reports of Wood falling when getting out of his hot tub. Local news just interviewed him and, all he could do was laugh. He says he'll not throw off the mound for a few days but that he's fine. Film showed him running and doing PFP. Lou laughingly agreed. I'll say one thing about KW, he looks 5 years younger after losing all that weight.

Sox and Been, bring it on!

Well, there is one undeniable fact that we all can agree on. Tomorrow is that special day when pitchers and catchers report and that means we're in the home stretch before OUR season begins.

I'd like to mention that the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals took the field today (pitchers and catchers) on their quest to defend their championship. Gosh that sounds nice to be able to say that.
