Not trying to start a fight here, but as I watched the playoffs and World Series, I couldn't help but notice just how far both Chicago teams are from playing at the level of teams like the Phillies and Yankees. Maybe we all just got a large dose of reality..

I will say however, that at least Lou had the common sense to stay off the air after the year that the Cubs just had.

And Shakey's Pizza...

...the mainstay out in the Pacific Northwest when I was growing up. Canadian bacon and pineapple by far their most popular pie. I'm guessing that one was not even on the menu in Elmwood Park...right?

And to your original point...both Chicago clubs have a ways to go before either is a true candidate to play in the final series.

I don't think there are many Chicago baseball fans who would argue that either of our teams are currently "World Series" level.

We will, however, endlessly argue over which Chicago team has the better manager, ballpark, fans, hot dogs, announcers, ushers, curse, farm system, scouts, beer vendors, neighborhood, uniforms, and sometimes even players.
