That went out the window after the last two times Maine went to the CWS and got smoked. In previous trips they were competitive.

Playing two and heading for the airport is getting smoked. I'm not putting down the northeast teams.

How about a salute to Dartmouth for hanging tough with Miami (12-8) and Texas A&M (4-3) and beating Florida International (15-9)!

I have no idea where you are coming from. If you pay attention on this site you will see I fight tooth and nail on behalf of the northern players.

I come from a similar background as you and also am a proponent of Northern baseball programss/players. I comment all of your posts recognizing Nothern teams and their success.
However, I find it a bit odd that you say Maine was "smoked" in the 1986 CWS when they lost games to LSU 8-4 and Arizona 8-7 (Maine lead this game 7-0 and lost it to the eventual CWS champion on a 2-out 9th inning HR)
Then you praise Dartmouth for losing in a regional by similar scores against teams that arguably will not win the CWS in 2010!
By winning one game in a regional Darmouth can avoid being labled as "Smoked" in your analysis! Your previous comments are a put down directed towards Maine and is off-track with your fighting tooth and nail on behalf of the northern players.
I hope this post clarifies where I am coming from regarding your comments.
Congratulations to the Gofers for a fine showing this year. CSF and UCLA now meet at UCLA this week-end. CSF has two first round draft picks playing and UCLA brings it's formidable pitching. Should be an excellent series.

IMO this bla bla bla about Northern or Southern teams is irrelevant with the changes in recruiting, & scholarship limits. Take a look at this year’s roster from Stanford. There are kids from all of country. Sure there are more kids from California, but California has a very large population playing baseball. So what move on and enjoy the super regionals.....hey I just noticed they have a kid from Sioux City...do they play baseball in Iowa?
