The LSC is one of the most competitive D2 leagues in the country. It is usually a dog fight each and every year. ACU is usually the top team. TAMK, ASU, UCO, SEOK are always tough. West Texas made the conf tourny last season, so maybe they are up and coming. But as a whole, anyone can beat anyone on any given weekend. Hope this helps.
ACU has been the at the top for years, but Angelo State won the southern division last year in only their 2nd year with a team. I think this year will be ASU, ACU, and TAMK.

From what I saw last year, Central OK and SE.OK will be good again this year in the north.

The key to this conference is pitching. The southern division plays 2 Friday and 2 Saturday (then usually and non conference game on Tuesday), where I think the north splits it and has a game on Wednesday. As you can tell, you need 4 legitimate starters and 4-6 dependable releivers.
My son is at Tarleton this year after two seasons at McLennan and he's really enjoying it. Tarleton had a rough season last year, but they're expecting better results in '07. It's like ASU Ram said, it will come down to pitching. And you're right, Mike Gunter (a distant relative of mine) will definitely help ASU, as will fellow transfers from NCTC Charley Belew and Jimmy Cox. Another good addition for the Rams will be infielder Steven Allred (my son's former roommate at McLennan). Anybody got any word on how those guys are doing in San Angelo?
Tarleton has had great success in recent years in basketball and football. Here's hoping they can experience that in baseball, as well. Coach Felan certainly seems to be a fine man.

The competition is very strong in the Southern Division of the LSC so it should be an interesting spring.

Forgive my ignorance, but where is James Karcher now? I knew him several years back and was wondering where he ended up.
I umpired games in the Lone Star Conference years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Pretty good baseball.

As far as Angelo State, from what I was told Jimmy Cox started off a little slow, but was swinging the bat well at the end of the fall season. ASU Ram Fan was right about Charlie being there in the spring. I saw one game this fall and they should be pretty good. I think the Gunter kid can pitch a little bit. He gets outs and doesn't give free passes......but then again, I'm probably biased.

OP........Thanks. And what kind of husband are you to send your wife and mother-in-law to the store so late at night????

Cowtown.......is that you MH? If so, glad to hear that HH is still playing. He's too good to not be playing somewhere. Extremely tough out.

PantherProud......what is DM doing?

MMWS.......They went to get my father-in-law a new pair of sweats. I told them I had 10 pair in the closet that don't fit anymore!! I guess they just wanted to get out of the house.
