If they want you bad enough they will. To the best of my knowledge every d3 program gets at least 2 'special admits' where their sat and gpa scores can be lower than the schools requirement but they will let them in since they are playing a sport. I was a pretty good student out of HS but the college i wanted to go to had ridiculously high requirements so the coach used a special admit on me and got me in.

In general the answer to the question of whether the baseball program can help you with admissions is yes. However it is handled differently from program to program. Some programs will require you commit to a school if they go to bat for you. Others just don’t have a lot of juice with Admissions.

Talk to the programs you interested in, provide them with everything they ask for so they can get an early read from admissions and listen very carefully to how they talk about your chances. Some programs want as many good baseball players as possible applying to their school on the small chance they get in. Others may not believe you can help them much on the field but if you get accepted they will get to evaluate you thoroughly. Most programs my son dealt with seemed to be very straight up about his chances at admission and his prospects on the field.
For most of the D-3`s my son dealt with the coach stated he would send a note to admissions but there are plenty of schools out there that will tell you they have 0% pull with admissions with some not even allowed to contact admissions in favor of a recruit. Also keep in mind that being an athlete helps with the process anyway.

In my experience with our players over the years I have a learned a few things regarding D-3 programs

01--if the coach wants you , you will know it ---he will make it clear

02--if you, the player, definitely want that specific school apply for early admission if they have it--if you do not get early admission acceptance it could put you at the top of the list for regular acceptance in the spring.

03--living, as I do, in the Northeast which is D-3 territory I can tell you not to undersell the quality of D-3 baseball--to play great baseball along with the great academics is not a bad option

04--many D-3 programs have facilities second to none and the coaching is as good as it gets

05--Yes ! you may not get official word of admissions acceptance until spring but that is the way it is with D-3 schools

06-- as what is noted above about some D-3 programs not allowing the coaches to get assistance from admissions this is true-- the coach will let you know whether he can assist your admissions process or not.

If any of you have any specific questions please feel free to PM me
