There is an article in the local paper today profiling a local H.S. softball player who has made a commitment to play at a local D3 college. Since there is no National Letter of Intent for D3, what exactly is the commitment? Is there some other document that you sign? There is even a quote from the college coach discussing how much he is lookng forward to her joining the program.

My 04 is a D3 sophomore. He gave his verbal commitment by phone, during one of the periodic check-in calls the coach was making (I think it was January of his senior year). He had made his decision earlier in the week but did not consider it final until he gave his word to the coach. There was no paperwork for him to sign.
07 Southpaw....just as MNMom posted ....there is no paperwork, but when son gave his verbal committment to coach....we followed it up with the required monetary deposit to the school....there was a deadline...which helps confirm attendance......in any event.....he gave his word.....and he was going.....and we celebrated accordingly.....
