Amherst was the other West team to play postseason baseball and has a trio of returning All-NESCAC performers in senior ace Jackson Volle (6-1, 1.79, 1 CG, 44 SO, 60.1 IP), shortstop Harry Roberson (.336, 28 RBI) and senior outfielder Anthony Spina (.341, 8 2B, 2 3B, 6 HR, 22 RBI, 8 SB). The Purple and White also welcome back senior outfielder Yanni Thanoupulos (.321, 3 HR, 33 RBI) who played for the Futures League champion Nashua Silver Knights along with Roberson.
The kid from M.I.T. sounds impressive.
The region’s loudest bat is found at MIT where Austin Filiere (.428, 13 HR, 55 RBI, 20 2B, 62 H, 30 BB, 14 SB) put together another All-American caliber season and then clubbed seven home runs for the Harwich Mariners of the prestigious Cape Cod League this past summer.
All that and an ACT score of 103
Bishop, Thx for posting!!
103?
I tend to exaggerate when someone seems out of this world.

My son pitched on that Futures League championship team last summer with Roberson and Thanopolous - both very solid players.

Kid is out of this world talent. That .428 referred to above was after a .100 start after about the first half dozen games. First at bat in the cape he homered. Last year he had 16 pitch at bat ending in a home run, next at bat a 15 pitch at bat and doubles-in a playoff game. Great kid. Peter Gammons wrote a piece on him for his blog. My son plays with him and we'll be happy for him when he gets drafted but we'll miss him after this season.
Well, you made me hit Google. Here's the Gammons article:

Here's another nice write up focusing on his summer performance in Cape Cod:

Like I said, impressive.
BTW - congrats on your kid playing at MIT!
