Now that is funny. Big Grin I know I have felt that way about a decision or 2 we have made in the past about some teams.....

I think the thing to keep in mind with any tryout/organization is that:

Each Season brings a new set (not always, but most of the time) of players/parents which creates a dynamic that is unique to that team at that time and place.....Looking at the past history of a team is always good when seeking out a new team but there are never any gtd.'s on what the end result is until you have ridden the ride for a season.........And the beauty of it all is that it is a season to season arrangement that you can either retain for another season or walk away from to find another "match"...........

With all the great things happening in the Dallas area this year, i.e. AABC Championships et all, there will be a lot of attention on Dallas based teams which means good things for the D/FW select community....

Good Luck Mustangs, with your team(s) successes this past season you should have a good group of talent to choose from during your upcoming tryouts.

I have heard that at least three 17 year old players in the Mustangs organization that were NOT on Sam's ballclub have orally committed to Division 1 baseball programs. How is that so bad? If your feelings are hurt because your son was not chosen to play for Sam, then just say so and quit complaining about which team your son is on. The evidence above clearly demonstrates that whichever Mustang team that your son did or did not play on is not the reason that he is not getting D1 offers.

Furthermore, if you are going to state that you expected a better team because you want to win and it is all about the team, go back and play rec ball in your hometown. The fact is that most people who spend the resources to allow their son's to play select do so in order to help their son's achieve the goal of continuing to play after high school. You wanted your son in the Mustang (or DBAT or Tiger) organization for the exposure and you got it. You just may not like the fact that your phone isn't ringing.
I would think it would be unusual for any reputable organization (DBAT, Marshals, Mustangs, Tigers, etc) to not let you know what team your son made prior to taking your money. If that happened to you with your your summer team I can see why you would be frustrated. I would think that your experience is probably an exception and not the norm. I know that is no consolation to you but hopefully next years experience will be better with whichever team/club you go with.

Trying out for top team like the Tigers. DBAT, Mustangs, etc, is no different than applying to colleges or for a job, its a competition. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Then if you make the team or get the job, your experience is not always what was promised. That's life, move on and learn from it.

I will say the Mustangs WEB site is about the worst I have seen for a class organization.

My only question being, "Could you at least let my son know which team he most likely made for the summer before you take our money, so he knows where he stands and then we can make our choice?"

Frankly, when my son played for Sam, I made it clear that if he was not on Sam's team that we would go elsewhere. So when you got that phone call, you should have asked. jmo

I would suggest that if anybody has a problem with an organization that they contact them directly and let them know.

OBN - I guess that is what keeps us sane. I would only say that, we were very clear about who we would play for, but the switch we experience was done AFTER fees were paid. A tough lesson to learn, but we moved on and have had great experiences since.

Thanks for your sage advice and I'm a big fan of yours. I learn much from your wisdom.

It is not unusual for kids of the Mustangs 17U to get scholarships. My son played on the Mustangs 17's in the summer of 03 and he along with quite a few others got scholarships. Don't ever underestimate the value of the clown hat Big Grin
