Since there are more than just garlandowl that would like to gain information I'll take this message public.

Also, that way Texan can compare my post with the "straight from the source". Roll Eyes

There are many ways to "try out". You can play as a "guest player", personal workout, announced tryout dates, ect. but.........

My suggestion to anyone who wants to play for a the DBAT organization to first start off by introducing yourself to Cade Giffis, Kyle Griffis, and/or Mr. Kirk. You can do so by simply going to the DBAT facility in Addison.

Second, while you introduce yourself to them, mention to them you are interested in playing in their program.

They will give you specific instructions but as a former coach, this is what should, and most likely will, happen.

Your information will be passed on to the coach and GM of the team that matches your age group. That coach will then assess how you may fit with that team. Example, if you are a SS and there are 3 players deep at that position, they may let you know this so you understand what your up against.

Regardless, when a coach is made aware that a player is interested in their program.......that coach and/or GM will find information on your skills and character. Most likely he will find a way to watch you play to see this himself. Also, networking will allow him to gain information from trusted sources...(coaches, scouts, players, ect.)

From there, a relationship between you and the organization will build which will allow for the opportunity for you to become a player in the organization.

I will be honest. Most of these players have been in the organization for quite some time. As a former coach, I found it important to reward commitment instead of adding new players at times.

Saying.......you may possibly be better than a player that is with the team your interested in, but that player may have been with that team for many years and will be expected to return.

So, take the first step and head to DBAT and meet the folks. Let them know your interest and I'm sure they will point you in the right direction.

I will tell you this as well. During my tenure as a DBAT coach, I never once failed to go watch a PLAYER THAT WAS INTERESTED in the DBAT program. I felt if a player was interested, it was my responsibility to take the time and give this player and opportunity to showcase himself. I may have known prior to my attendance that it wasn't going to work out, but it still allowed for me to build a relationship for possible placement of a player that WANTED IT on his own.

Great post, Ken -- reveals a lot about your character and interest in others.
Did I mentioned that DBAT was able to play baseball this weekend? Big Grin

DBAT 17 -- 8
Patriots 17 -- 7

DBAT 17 -- 3 ---- strange game, Patriots tied the game in the 6th, but lightning caused the game to revert back to the 5th
Patriots 17 -- 1

Patriots have a strong lineup and a number of good-looking '08s

DBAT 17 -- 5
Dallas Giants -- 3

DBAT 17 -- 4
Dallas Giants -- 4

Giants hit better than DBAT with wood in game 2. The teams used metal in game 1. No coaches were ejected. Cool

PD,

I was particularly impressed with the Patriots first baseman, last name Williams. Good looking LH hitter. He about took OPson's head off on the hit he gave up last night. I saw his dad in the parking lot after the game and found out the kid plays HS ball @ Midland Lee. Quite an impressive physique on this youngster!!

Marshall Williams was at area code and showed very well for never playing baseball outside Midland. His daddy and Tychco played high school ball together. MW also has been having great success in football at the linebacker position (if I'm wrong Tychco will correct me). He's already being looked at by D1 football programs. He's a great kid from a great family! Good eye you have there OP!

Hmmmmm. I advised the player to talk to the DBAT folks.

You advise the player to .... "first start off by introducing yourself to Cade Giffis, Kyle Griffis, and/or Mr. Kirk. You can do so by simply going to the DBAT facility in Addison."

Well now....

Have fun getting the last word in. Your own words speak for themselves, although they often don't say what you would like for them to say.

I'm done on this one, so don't sweat PD. Big Grin
