What's that? Something unsporting happened on a high school baseball field?

...And of course a shot it taken at DBat at the end of the post. Very classy of you, sir (?)

Are you expecting some kind of a big outrage? Not to bring up something that has been well buried by now, but I remember a player spitting on an umpire this very spring. And I also remember a player now playing D1 baseball making an obscene hand gesture at an entire bleacher of parents.

It seems that this 15 year old you seem so intent on calling out was just the one who got caught. There is ALWAYS more to these incidents than what you think you've seen. If you have a problem, deal with it the right way and email the coach. DBat is a classy organization, with which I have ZERO affiliation, and the problem with be dealt with accordingly.
Where there is smoke there is sometimes =edited= or his mom or his dad or his grand dad. I don't know if he brings it on himself or if opposing teams are jealous of his on the field accomplishments. Re reading some of the past high school season posts, he does seem to attract a lot of controversy. This game was no different. Dbat must have gotten by in a squeaker.

Who the hell cares if he flipped off anyone. He is a high school kid and they react before they think. You guys always want to stir up some **** on this site over a group of kids who are still in high school and trying to learn to be adults (then again, I have seen adults act in the same manner).

Someone needs to take the pot stirring stick away from you guys.
We should all be careful about "throwing stones" .. as adults, are we perfect?

Have we as parents ever said something from the stands that at some point we wish we hadn't? (Even if it was in private to another parent?) As parents, we all work hard everyday to reinforce (and demand) a high level of character from our children. And sometimes our kids will let us down .. but their kids; they're learning how to be young men (or ladies) as well. Is it fair for adults to get on this forum and bash a kid? I don't think so.
Lisa Thompson, I'm guessing you are Jakes mom, if I am not mistaken, you also removed an earlier thread that you posted. Your original thread is still posted above inside of Big Red's post. Why did you remove your original post? As Big Red says there is more to the story. Your son was pitching...maybe he was throwing way inside and dbat didn't like it or maybe it was something else. Who cares. The fact of the matter is dbat, the better team won. Yes we are all sure your son did nothing to lose the game because he had pitched 9 innings in 2 days. That in itself is lunacy for a 16 year old. In reading this web site for over a year, I have never seen another family take up for their son and say nothing is ever his fault like your family does. Why did you remove your first post? Just curious.
Folks since I started this thread I would like to ask for your co-operation. This post was simply put up to congratulate a team that has achieved a goal of playing in the MMWS and it will be an exciting time for these young men. There has been some eight replies since and non have congratulated these young men but all have responsed to what an opposing player did. I do not know the player in question personally and I was not at the game. However, let's not give the incident anymore attention. Its done and over. If it needs to continue please start another discussion out of respect for Coach Phillips, his players and parents.

This is a repeat performance for the Phillips team that defeated McCabes team last season in Owassa. Many of the players on that team have a competitive history playing with or against the other top teams in the metroplex since they were 9 or 10 years old.

That Tigers team have been the Bandito's of North Texas and all of the good teams in that age group have used the Tigers as the measuring stick of excellence.

Dbat has a couple of great teams in this age group and many great players spread out on all of the rosters they carry under their umbrella.

The Dbat teams are only going to get better as they cull their players, increase roster size, and reduce the number of teams they feild in the older age groups.

Anyway, that's another topic. CONGRATS to team Phillips Back-to-Back Champions.

I was at the game saw the whole thing. What started the whole thing was a player on the Tigers hit a HR and rounded 1st and YELLED F***U at the pitcher. As he then rounds 2nd our SS and him got into a verbal argument. Then Bah bah Bah....

I did not see our kid flipped off the fans but I will find out if he did and if so he will be reprimanded.
BS. Mr. Griffis challenged me earlier today to ask the Tiger 1B coach what was said. I did so. The Tiger player never uttered that statement and did not make any statement to an opposing player. Perhaps we can now get a posting corroborating that fact as I used the very witness Mr. Griffis asked for-who else should we ask now? I am sick of people on this website taking shots, some overt and some covert, at my kid or family. I am sure I will lose this battle too as this is a DBAT site. The people who were there know what they saw AND it was not a Tiger player on both knees in front of the bleachers with both middle fingers extended. Deflect it any way you want. Say you did not see it. But saying it did not happen or that it was, in some perverse way of thinking, a justifiable act goes against the very cold, hard truth.

Lighten up Pick it's just good old country hardball with boys being boys.
I say we wash both teams' players' mouthes out with softsoap (not the chuncks our moms use to use) and play ball!

Seriously people -- this discussion takes away from the teams, both of them. In my mind, the true measure of a team is how they respond to adversity. It's sad that the kids on either team felt "big" enough to talk trash or to disrepect each other (and the game). Unfortunately, many of the "boys" on the largest stage continue to provide poor examples.

Although I have respect for both organizations....I wish there was more good to discuss here than bad....didn't someome step up and "lead" the comeback? Didn't someone have a key hit in the 6th or 7th inning or whatever? Didn't someone show great class in defeat?

And....regarding all of you'all's (I'm Texan?) inferiority complexes....get over them. DBAT is a group, like any other. Tigers are a group, like any other. Make choices, have loyalties, and keep things in perspective.

Cool

Why SWAC? Were you blind to the DBAT fingers too? Afraid that it might actually have happened? Doesn't surprise me.

Just playing with you. Smile

Agree with you. Thread should be closed. If parents actually act this way you really can't expect much from the kids. There is a rude awakening coming to many of these guys, kids and parents alike, if they are lucky enough to make it to the next level.

Congrats to DBAT on the win. Now go finish the job.
