Select team tryouts have been a major topic of late and I didn't want to hijack another thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The DBAT select teams do not have open tryouts. We generally recruit by need for our summer teams and often have a player being considered for those teams come work out for our coaches at DBAT unless they are already familiar with the player.

This year we had three summer teams (DBAT 16, DBAT 17 & DBAT 18) that all had great success on and off the field. To help continue that success for our ballplayers we will again have one team this fall that will play in several high-profile events in September and October. This team will include many of this past summer's DBAT players as well as others that will be new to the DBAT family. The majority of players for our 17 & 18 year-old summer teams are selected from this fall team.

If interested in being considered for the DBAT fall or summer select teams, please send a Private Message to me or to SWAC.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The tryouts for 15 and 16 year-olds that have been posted here on the HSBASEBALLWEB (link to thread) are for the DBAT facility's Fall Wood Bat League which is comprised of teams with players ranging from freshman-varsity. The teams these 15s & 16s will play on this fall are coached by DBAT instructors and will give the players an opportunity to be considered for next summer's DBAT 15 and DBAT 16 teams. As with our older teams, the majority of the players for next summer's younger teams will come from these DBAT fall teams.

This league is an excellent opportunity for players to stay sharp during the fall while playing on either Saturdays or Sundays at Kelly, Reverchon, McKinnish and other fields. The convenience of playing on Saturdays or Sundays allows many of the players in this league to also play for their HS fall teams and/or football. Individual players or entire teams may join this league. If interested please contact Kyle Griffis @ DBAT at 972-387-3228.

Don't see the humor!!!!!!!!! Confused

SWAC, I think he was taking a stab at another program, not yours. Maybe one with red, white and blue.
I don't understand all the bashing of the Mustangs on here. I guess it is easy since no one posts regularly that plays for the Mustangs. The few people who do post from their organization have nothing but positive things to say about the other great organizations in the area. I guess the Mustangs need a MustangCoach and MustangGM on here to defend themselves.
Good grief, is everyone so sensitive that they can't take a little ribbing for the funny things thier organization does or is. I hate the NY Yankees cause, I'm a Ranger fan. I'll bag on them when I get a chance, does not mean they are not a good team or organization. But its fun to bag on them. Just like everone bags on the Rangers for never having pitching. It does not hurt my feelings. Get your panties out of a wad, its just fun, its life enjoy it for what it is. OMG my kid played on a team with RED shoes.
I've seen one "bashing" post on here about the Mustangs.

Also, I must add, that this website isn't intended to protect or promote the organizations of Select Baseball, it is primarily purpose was set up for parents and thier kids that play. I think sometimes we lose site of that.

If an organization opens themselves up for critisim by charging for a tryout or fielding 4 teams at one age level, then they are no different than any other commercial venture that people pay money to that they are unhappy with.

The website was intended to disperse information to help our kids get to the next level, and I think it's very healthy to talk about the good and the bad, it just needs to be done with some couth is all.

Over the years, people like DBat GM, SWAC, Ken Guthrie PGSTaff, the multiple HS Coaches and even TRHit have migrated to this site to both assist others in their quest and to also maybe get some pub for thier organization along the way. They do it in the right way by not just coming on here to post a tryout, or a camp or showcase, but to also offer their insight as the "Pro's" in what they do. They have become "members" in the truest sense with that contribution.

So, maybe it seems a little one sided sometimes because DBat have so many representitives here, but sometimes they get a good natured hard time about their massive presence, and they take it in stride.

I personally know three Mustangs parents that post on this site, two of them couldn't be happier with the organization and have posted thier praise for both Sam and the organization, one of those parents directly links his son's D1 Scholarship to Sam Carpenter and the Mustangs, the third would tell you a different story. The same can be said about any organization in this town, they have happy consumers, and they have not so happy ones.

I am feeling a little intimidated. Frown. O well, I have a hard enough time trying to remember the teaching PD gave me on what I can and can't say. Razz

Seriously, baseball tryouts are just that...tryouts. There may be differences in how each team brings in new players but they all have one thing in common - playing baseball. I hope everyone here finds a good home for their son and we should all be thankful that there are so many outstanding baseball programs around this area to choose from.

If you do make it out to Greenhill next Saturday look me up. I'll be the guy in the shade not working very hard... Big Grin

If.............If my post was the reference to the "bashing Post" then i opologize for bad taste... that post was in reference to my defending the tigers tryout policy,It was done in complete sarcasm and was not intended to offend anyone but the "person" who went on the tirade to bash me for defending the Tigers.

Irony =(Im with the Blackhawks)
I am a parent of a Mustang player and we are very happy with the organization. I also understand there are those that have had bad experiences with them...as KD said that can be said of every team.

If you put yourself out and and offer something like this, it is bound to happen. Sam took a tremendous amount of criticism (more than one post) recently regarding his scheduling of AABC games. Whether there was legitimate reasoning or not, that was an entire thread dedicated to bashing Sam and the Mustangs.

I don't argue or defend because I have no personal knowledge one way or the other and because most of the bashing is done with emotion and without knowledge ...that makes it easy to ignore.
