My son's first word was "football" but today he doesn't know a cornerback from a safety. I steered him toward pitching and now, at 15, he was clocked at 79 (LHP) at a Div. I college camp..was told he had beautiful mechanics. At only 5'8", his future is bright should he get some solid growth behind him.. I'm wondering, physically, if a scout or college coach could project-out his maximum potential just by ascertaining his growth potential/body type or whether it mom and dad's physical attributes come into play. His dad, I played baseball until about 16. I remember setting the school long-toss record (throwing a softball of all things).. the throw went far past the maximum distance they had marked for the competition. I told my son this years back and now I wonder.. does he have my genes or was it all the hard work and training? Probably both, but is there something a scout or college coach could easily identify by body structure, or is it a crapshoot?
