Trickdaddy,

Jay Tessmer was a very low almost submarine right handed reliever who actually made it to the Big Leagues with the Yankees. He also played at Miami in College if memory serves me correctly.

Jay would usually throw his fastball in the low 80s. His pitch was the slider which appeared very much like a Frisbee at the plate. We have argued that fastballs don’t actually rise in the past, but from the submarine release point, Tessmer’s slider very much appeared to go upward (up and away to right hand hitters). He was very successful in the high minor leagues, but Major League hitters stayed off that pitch much more often than the minor leaguers. The Tessmer Frisbee slider was so unusual I don’t think I saw very many hitters touch it. Not a pitch you see very often!

Sorry, I don't know exactly how he threw that pitch.
