I was one of those players that he helped very much. He helped me with both baseball and my life in general, especially spiritually. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have made my college team. And, if I had listened to more of his advice I would have been playing a lot longer, LOL. He was a great guy was tough as nails, and as Mike Toomey says, it was an honor to play for him. I had opportunities to play on other teams against him but my loyalty stayed with him simply because he was loyal to me, dedicated to me, and also to my teammates. We played 365 days a year, in winter leagues in the snow and in the summer we played in multiple leagues. I can remember playing a double header vs. the Johnnies in Baltimore and having to head South for an evening Clark Griffith League game all in one day. In practices he pushed me to my limits each time.
I played for Edsel Martz 74 and 75 rain snow heat winter spring summer and fall he was there with one cleat one tennis shoe that old orioles jacket ad that cigar, he pushed me to be better and better each practice RIP Coach Martz

I don't know the man but lucky for you guy's because he sounds awesome!
Played against his teams many times in Baltimore.
He had a bus, packed his guys on it and went everywhere... They never got rained out 'cause they played through it all. On one rainy day in Towson, the bus pulled up and I heard him say; my guys are a bunch of xxxx, we'll play today.
