Hard to find a program with a better tradition of success, regardless of division!
The college-MLB games around Spring Training are always fun and popular.
Unfortunately it is going to be one of many, many losses for the Phillies. Kudos to Tampa!
GO PHILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not sure that I agree with this. I think the first place I would look is what pitchers were used. Is the Tampa SP a big time prospect? If so, he could have been a major factor. Also, I believe this was the first game action for these Philly prospects. Since it was the 14th for the Tampa Club, I would assume their pitching was much more ready for the task.

I agree with you, this was beginning of practice for them and I am assuming that most likely they are not on the 25 man roster (but the 40) along with AA or AAA guys.
Nonetheless, this is always good for college baseball and a whole bunch of fun for everyone.
BTW, there were two players on the Phillies whose parents are websters here.
Er... Lou Pinella was a decent ballplayer....

Lou was not decent -- he was an awesome player. .291 BA over 18 years.
But huh -- wut???
So Tampa is in first place in the NL East. Bravo!
Er... Lou Pinella was a decent ballplayer....
As was Tino Martinez

And what about a pretty good player by the name of Tino Martinez?

You can't put much stock in college versus pro games. For the pro team it just might be Who on first, I Don't Know on third and I Don't Give a Damn at short. For individual situations the college teams are into the season while pro players may be seeing their first live pitching. David Ortiz struck out twice yesterday against Northeastern. He struck out against them last year. The Red Sox only won by a run.
Yes RJM, College teams beat the pros all the time. Why is it noteworthy at all....
