Coaches and Arm Chair GM's:

I read in the DMN's that Sulentic hit 2 more homeruns giving him 18 for the year so far and over 50 RBI's. pray OUTSTANDING !!!!

Why are coaches in this district even pitching to this kid? Funneldrill or Swami don't want to put you on the spot but why would any coach pitch to him now or in the playoffs?

Also, has the pitching in this district been regular HS pitching (which is still okay) or has he hit kids throwing 90plus?

Finally, who is his hitting coach over at DBAT? I read before that Sulentic is a very hard worker and it obviously is showing.

I wish him the best and hope he plays for our Rangers one day soon! If not Good Luck at A&M!

Matt works with Chris Edelstein, a very good hitting guy. When Matt is in the cage, the sound is amazing -- every hit sounds like an explosion. I don't think he is seeing 90+ very often in his district, but it's still HS baseball in a city with many good players. I believe a third or more of his long balls occurred in the pre-district tournaments. If coaches pitch around him, he has very good speed and will get into scoring position for his supporting cast. Having said that, I agree that a coach should pick his poison. I'd take my chances with anyone but Sulentic.

In addition to his amazing stats, I understand he is an outstanding young man from a great family -- he is DFW's best-kept secret! -- even as the scouts line up to see him take BP. I think his stock is still rising --- he may find himself as one of the first 30-40 HS kids drafted.

Chris Edelstein has done an outstanding job in working with him and Matt would be the first to tell you so. Last summer Matt hit .463 against top competition and hit out of the three hole for most of the season. He has worked tirelessly ever since to become an even more complete hitter.

He does come from a great family and has an outstanding work ethic. He may be a secret to some in DFW but he is not a secret to the pro guys. Agree with PD as I feel that he'll definitely be a first day selection in the draft and may likely go in the first five rounds. Not many kids more deserving IMO.

Panter Dad,

I was talking to Clemente21 yesterday at our game and he said the same thing about the ball exploding off of Matt's bat. TS takes lessons right after Matt and they get to see him hit all the time. This kid sounds like the real deal!! I would love to get to see him play.
Train,

That baseball district is relatively weak. The pitching he faces in district is glorified batting practice. Now, he was hitting well in non-district play against very good competition that Hillcrest faces, so IMO he is as legit as his numbers indicate.

Having said that...no...I would not pitch to him at all. He is the type of hitter that I would walk with the bases loaded instead of pitching to him ( better to give them 1 instead of 2,3, or 4 with one swing).

I'll let someone else beat us before I let him beat us.
