Ok - The DALLAS MORNING NEWS IS THE BEST SITE TO GET ALL THE INFORMATION YOU WANT IN ONE PLACE PERIOD.

Yes, they miss some games and never update them after the fact. But if you learn how to navigate the site you can get, Weekly Rankings with archive, Divisional Stats - updated weekly. Accurate District standings (give or take an occasional missing game)
DISTRICT 5-5A

School Dist. Sea.
Coll. Heritage 7-2 14-5
SL Carroll 7-2 18-7-1
Keller 6-3 17-6
Grapevine 5-4 10-11
Haltom 4-5 12-11-1
Keller Central 3-5 4-12-1
Richland 2-7 8-10
Justin Northwest 1-7 8-15

On a daily basis they post the scores of the games via the Sports Calendar by district. Sometimes they have the scores posted before I get home from an away game with a limited box score with WP and LP listed. Great Stuff.

On the team level, they have most of the rosters and many team actually have the team level stats, 90% of the teams have district standing listed.

The district standings are hyperlinked to the teams schedule so you can go back and forth from one team to the other to look at their schedules , compare with starter went when and get a good feel for your district.

Here is how I use the site:

1) Daily Scores - go to the web-site let it load, scroll over the Sports Tab and a drop-down will appear. Go down the drop-down to High School- Click it. On the right hand side in the middle of the screen under a steel blue banner that read Schedule/Polls/Honors : is a Baseball: heading click on the Bullet - Daily schedule /results.

That brings up a Calendar with months listed across the top, select the current month or whatever month of the day you are looking for and click on results of that day. By 10 or 10:30 pm every night most scores of interest are posts. NOTE: YOU CAN CLICK ON SCHEDULE FOR A FUTURE DATE AND IT GIVES YOU A LIST OF SCHEDULED GAMES BY DISTRICT:

Example this Friday's 6-5A schedule:

DISTRICT 6-5A

Carr. N. Smith at Coppell 7:00
Carr. R.L. Turner at Carr. Creekview 7:00
FM Marcus at Flower Mound 7:00
Hebron at Lewisville 7:00

GO MARCUS!!!!!!!!!

From here click around, on the teams , their schedule & results come up, click on the scores and the box scores come up. You got the idea now?

1) Team and District stuff:

Back to the beginning,Sports Tab, click High School let it load, under the High School heading several sub-headings appear. Click My High School/Leaderboard. This brings up a list of all the high schools that DMN covers. Select the HS of chioce and have at it, all the sports you want.
For baseball:
Schedule/Results,Roster, Team Stats, District Standings, Area Stat, Area Ranking. Remember to try and find the hyperlinks.

No not ever team has all of that but even if you could go the individual team booster club sites , if they have them most won't even have what is on the DMN. The only team site the does ....that I found is Flower Mound, they have full bow scores with LOB and innings pitched by pitcher, by far the best baseball booster site. On most boosters sites the coaches don't want the information the FM puts right out in the open. I like it, some don't.

Good Luck Surfing !!!

I disagree that the Dallas Morning News website is the best place to go. They are oftentimes behind, sometimes as much as a week.

That is due to the "Coaches" reporting on timely basis BUT .... we had that discussion last year!! Razz

I did check the FM web site and they do have about everything. I wonder if the coach cares about opposition looking at the stuff.

Obviously they don't seem to be worried about it.

Just looked at a few more of the web-sites. Some barely post the scores, others just the score by innings. There does seem to be some paranoia about releasing info. Most of the 4A and 5A schools send scouts to their opponents games anyway so I don't see what the fear is all about.

Being caught padding the books...

These teams have been scouted enough that there is little to hide regardless of whether the "kimono" is open on the net or not. The only real problem that is raised from this practice is not from the opponents but the parents!
beenthere -- think about it. "That was a hit, not an error!" "How can he call that an EARNED run?" "Bobbie should be AHEAD of Eddie in STOLEN BASES!" "Why isn't Jimmie starting when he is OBVIOUSLY a better hitter than Sally?" Smile Our parents have been great -- and our website scorekeeper is unbiased. Another challenge of publishing stats is that they don't always agree with the team's scorer (in the dugout). But, the bottom line is....stats are a tool....and unimportant in the larger TEAM picture. It's all about making the year-end tournament, whether your team hits .245 or .360.
McKinney North's stats are also published on their web site. I've never heard one word from any parent all year about what the stats say on the site or who's hitting what or any controversy regarding stats.

Some poeple need to get a life if you ask me.

District 9-4A Standings

McKinney North 7-3 14-7-2
McKinney 7-3 13-9
Frisco 7-3 14-10
Frisco Centennial 6-4 14-9
McKinney Boyd 5-5 11-13
The Colony 4-6 10-13
Lake Dallas 4-6 15-11
Little Elm 0-10 3-18

PD....Can I call you PD? Thanks for the PH...I will give you full credit in the books unless of course my average needs a little boosting!

PS. There are nearly as many scorekeepers in the stands as there are umpires!

UpnIn, What do you mean? What problem are the parents raising from the published stats?

Thanks for answering my question, PD. I have been there and have thought about it. There are several potential concerns so I was asking to see what UpnIn had experienced at their school.
beenthere:

The situations I have witnessed are parents who keep their "own books" and confront the "official" scorer who is usually getting input from the coach. Parents do not realize that the stats are just that. Kids who move on after HS do so for a variety of reason some of it is their stats but not all. Some parents, not all, have even gone as far to take their case to the school principal fight for playing time.

The other bad situation I witnessed, which was the most detrimental, were players using the stats to the detriment of the team, compairing each others and thus their importance and value over others. In this particular case it caused a rift with the players at a critical juncture of the season and the teams focus was lost and so were some games. The coach promptly quit publishing the stats once he found out about the cause of the problem.

Just my two cents.
