Thanks 58 diamondad....sounds like a good game for PW.
After a big win last Friday, the dads at PW said the boys were flat and unexcited, but still got the win. Congrats to Huber for a masterful 17 strikeout performance.

Dallas Jesuit
Plano West
.
.Scoring Summary
(WP): Huber
(LP): Jans
JESUIT: 2B- Terry; 3B- Bell
PLANO WEST: HR- McKinney
Horns:
The Plano West dads are downplaying what was a really good pitchers duel. Jans gave up a single to the first batter and a HR to the second batter of the game. Jans then settled in got his 18 outs (9 K's and 2 BB) giving up only 2 more hits the rest of the game. Meanwhile Huber was striking out 8 of the first 9 Jesuit hitters going on to have a total of 17 K's and 0 Walks and 1 HBP and 4 hits.
Jesuit got one run in the top of the 7th and had a man on 2nd and could not bring him in. It was an exciting finish.
If that is your perception, that is OK, I am just relaying what the dads at PW said. The boys had little motivation last night (which in turn leads to complacency at the plate) after a big win against Plano and the leadoff batter for PW had a double not a single according to the DMN and those in attendance. I don't follow Jesuit, what is their record? I think 17Ks by Huber says it all and I believe there were a couple a infield dribblers in the top of the 7th that made it seem exciting. Clearly, the best team won.

You are correct...it was a double.
But then again, I am not the one making excuses, nor do I feel the need to. Huber pitched lights out..no doubt. It is my perception that Jans also had a good outing and its your perception that PW did not come to play.
Agree to disagree.
But I think the records of each team and what PW has accomplished over the last few years, makes the PW perception reality. How many rings/district titles do you have at Jesuit? Lost 10 of 15 in district play, enough said.
No defense.

Upperdeck,
I was at the game and both pitchers pitched very well.I hope you guys pitch that way against everyone else in 8-5A. Good luck the rest of the way.
Please don't pay attention to the previous poster, those of us who enjoy baseball, enjoyed the game last night.

Generally, teams don't play flat in a district ballgame because they know what's at stake. I wasn't at this game, but my instinct (and the boxscore) tells me this turned out to be a very good pitchers' duel. As I've said before, there are several very good pitchers in 8-5A, so a low scoring game like this isn't going to be uncommon throughout the season.
Bronco,
PW was flat, plain and simple. Look at boxscores from previous PW games. They are very dominant on the hitting and pitching side. Unless you have been at the top, you wouldn't understand. The young man who pitched for Jesuit had a good game, but based on his pitching record, it was either an aberration or PW was flat.

If you are going to make a hard right turn like that, you should give a turn signal. We were talking about last nights game not a history lesson.
The only place I see us disagreeing is that I think a team with as many rings and titles as PW has comes out motivated to play every nite.
You, on the otherhand, have indicted PW's players and coaches to the opposite.
On that I will agree to disagree.
Typically, you play up or down based on the competition. That is how it is with teenagers.Seemingly they were unmotivated based on their performances in the last few games.
Good luck the rest of the way.

Ancient indian ritual when buffalo is harvested. Nocahoma dance around fire and eat tatanka and drink whiskey. If warriors had to "get up" before each hunt, Nocahoma would die.
Good warriors don't need motivation. If they can't find a way to motivate themselves at this point, ain't much of an idian tribe anyway.

LOL, spoken like a person who never has won anything or has smoked way too much on the peace pipe!!.
Can't be great every game.
Can't be great every game.
A warrior who show skins on the teepee do not make excuses. If indian no good, he no good. As for Chief not winning, you must need spirit man medicine. No need to be great. Always need to hunt hard. Nocahoma never make excuse. Nocahoma keep mouth shut let hunting season speak.
Personally I'll take the opinion of someone who attended the game versus someone who just gets feedback from "dads."
I was there. Jans looked good. I'm pretty sure he threw well against PW last year as well.
The leadoff "double" could have been a 5-3 out. Realllly good baserunning got him to 2b. Good job by that kid.
The HR was a fairly well hit flyball with A 20-MPH wind behind it.
Not taking anything away from the PW kids. They won the game. Huber looked very solid. But to discount Jesuit's effort by saying the kids weren't motivated is immature at best.
And glad they won a state ring in 2008. This is 2010.

This group of Senior boys:
(1) National Title
(1) 5A State Title
(2) District Titles
73-17 record so far over 3 years
can a good team not be flat? Look at the performances of both teams this year, no comparisons. Jesuit played a good game for them. Congrats.

Who did PW beat in that National Title Series?
You beat me to the punch tycho! A national title in HS baseball is a joke. I've watched PW play 4 times this year and they are very good, but not great. There are at least 4 teams in 4A around the metroplex that would beat them in a 3 game series. The outlook for the PW program is bright though -- they have 4 or 5 underclassmen starting who are nice players and should be fun to watch in the future.
Hurts coming from those who have never win at any level, LOL. What 3 teams have better pitching, hitting or more experience than PW. Jealousy is a funny animal. If you have nothing that can top those stats, you have nothing to say.
Pretty delusional.

I haven't won anything at any level, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night. But my son has been on some championship teams, so I will play the "near relative" card to address you and your narcissistic personality disorder.
But who did PW beat in that series? In order to win a championship, you have to defeat an opponent...so who did PW beat for that title?

Really, I don't recall Sam's team winning the championship in Farmington?? How is Baylor working out for you??
PW was named NC by rivals.com. Did JNW ever make the playoffs. You need sone better ammo to win thus battle, LOL.
Good luck

Horns,
As a PW baseball parent. I am offended by your tone. While I appreciate your fervor for our team, please refrain form commenting in the future.
PW has a good group of kids who have been very fortunate over the last 3 years. Like all teams they are not perfect and on any given day someone can beat them.
In the future, please disappear if you can't be positive AND respectful of others.
Thanks

You said it "Named" not played so in order to actually win the title you have to play for it, as you stated in many posts before. PW won the state title outright and has that bragging right but not for the National title.

I'm glad you feel that way. It's obvious that horns doesn't or hasn't played there, isn't a parent or coach, and is not even a fervent enough fan to make a Tuesday night game.
Good luck the rest of the way, except for a couple games where I'm biased.

JNW has to the playoffs once (2006) in the last 20+ years. What does that have to do with PW Nat'l Title?
Sam's team got CMWS runner up last year.
I am not currently attending Baylor.
Oh, rivals.com named them NC? OK, that works for me...as long as they earned it.

PW does have a great group of talented players.
Sounds like a pitchers duel to me...
As far as the Jesuit pitcher goes... I dont't know a thing about him, but let's give the kid some credit. FACTS are he held a good team to 2 runs and had 9 k's. Whether he had the game of his life or PW played "unmotivated" it doesn't matter. He pitched well.

Nick Jans - 1st Team All District 8-5A 2009
I guess he only got that recognition by facing flat/unmotivated teams every game last year...
I laugh everytime I read one of Horns 1 posts. This is the same guy that trashed PW players by name last year and the year before. Some of these kids my son and Tycho's son played with for two years. I don't mind listening to his HOMER routine but to put down Sam Carpenters clubs and Baylor is bush league at best. Besides Tycho couldn't get into Baylor... He ain't that smart...
Keep it up Horns 1... reading your post makes me realize that there are still people keeping up with High School baseball that don't have a clue as to whats going on...

I gotta hand it to you Horns, you sure know how to ruffle some feathers. Just out of curiosity, might you have a family connection to both UT and PW? Your screen name, rooting interest in PW, and the shot at Baylor lead me to believe you may.

No, Bronco, his shot wasn't at Baylor. It was at me. I guess he knows my son is a freshman there and isn't getting much playing time...thus his comment about "How is Baylor working out for you?"
For the record, Ryan Ford and his family are some of my friends, so I like PW. His posts are what bug me.
Wow, I don't post often but have enjoyed the board for several years since my older son started playing high school ball. In those several years, I think the jab at Tycho's son is probably one of, if not the most classless posts I've read on this board.
I've met, but don't know Tycho; however, I do know that he's epitomized class in posting over the past several years. Historically, this board has maintained a very positive and enthusiastic tone largely, I think, due to excellent moderators and parents/posters with the right perspective. I'd hate for that spirit to be lost.
Also, FWIW, it is tremendously difficult for a kid to achieve the opportunity to play D1 baseball much less at a Big XII school. There are so many factors, including a little good fortune, involved in getting playing time that it's beyond ludicrous to jab a kid who's a freshman and hasn't gotten much in the first 15% of his first season.....and, guess what, if he never plays much baseball in college he's still a success for all that he's achieved to date and the people he's met and experiences he's had in doing it!
Off my soapbox and back to anonymity

I got beat to the punch. No mistake that Jesuit is 2-1. Anyone who was at that game would have seen that they were very close to 3-0.
Horns, I've been reading your moronic and uninsightful posts for two years now. Usually I wouldn't use language that strong, but you are an idiot.
Wasn't at the game, but from what I have heard both Jans and Huber were unsurprisingly great.
Thanks, Rider and Red, but I don't take it personally.
I made the mistake of questioning the legitmacy of a HS Nat'l Championship, not the quality of that PW team.
Ain't no thing. Tyler isn't worried...he knows his day is coming.

My bad, thanks for clarifying. And I definitely wasn't referring to Ryan or his family as I know them and they are very good people. I actually know a handful of the PW seniors and their parents and they're nothing but class and represent PW well. Tycho, I know my brother-in-law is looking forward to being a teammate of your son's next year.
