How in the world can the 4-5A District Winner only have 3 representatives(award winners and selections) on the 1st Team? Every other 5A District winner you printed had at least 5; 2 had 6, and one had 9! I know the process...it's full of politics and boils down to how hard your coach goes to bat for the kids. Our coach used the cop out "It was based totally on statistics"....I'm assuming he meant offensive stats.... like defense isn't important? I know one kid who made 1st team in our district didn't even play half the district games due to an injury....he had a great non-district and should have been rewarded somehow, but don't take a district place away from another deserving kid. This will always be a subjective decision based upon coaches....some of whom fudge statistics and some of whom don't even bother to report them. Is it any wonder college coaches don't even consider high school statistics and/or awards? Maybe the best way to do it is allocate a total number of award/selections to be distributed based on where the team finishes in the district...e.g. 1st place gets 5, 2nd place gets 4, 3rd place 3 and so on. Of course there will be exceptions but that would at least provide a starting point. Nevertheless, when the 2nd place team gets 7, 3rd place gets 4, and 4th place gets as many as the district winner....somethin ain't right.

Not sure what's important. Can't be about defense or offense stats, at least in some districts. Can only make 2 errors all season and stay in the DMN top 50 class offense all season (well above 2 that were named all-district)and still get snubbed.
