Div ! Colleges Without Baseball

There are many D1 schools that had to let go of baseball after the implementation of Title IX...up here in the Northeast Providence and BU are 2 of the schools that do not have BB..

If you make the assumption (fairly safe one) that nearly every D1 institution has a men's basketball program, you find 327 D1 institutions.

285 of these offer baseball. 42 D1 schools have either never had a baseball program or have dropped it.

I always felt Syracuse should have baseball because of the Carrier Dome where they can play inside---but lacrosse is God on that campus in the spring

University of Colorado doesn't have baseball.

Good point on Syracuse. Many still argue that Jim Brown was the greatest running back of all time but I am not sure everyone knows he was also a great lacrosse player at Syracuse.

I saw him play lacrosse in HS and college--they still claim is is the greatest lacrosse player to ever play the game

I rank him as one of the top athletes of all time

Wow! That's where actor Robert Redford played baseball.

Yeah, basketball is the most common sport in hs and college, from stats I recall.

Good list, but one correction.

Iowa has a baseball program in the Big 10. It's Iowa State that dropped baseball a few years ago.

My brother played LaCrosse on a club team at Duke. Some coach/mentor of the club was from Cleveland and had played in a league there. That league had a team with Jim Brown on it. This coach said that team had one play: Pass the ball to Jim Brown, who'd run downfield and score. Good play!

That sounds like a reasonable strategy to me. Recall the old Bum Phillips line about Don Shula that "he can take hisin's and beat your'ans and take your'ans and beat hisin's..."
Sometimes people can out-think the game in any sport.
