Div III

I am guessing yes as my son has gotten a number of calls from D3 coaches this week and I think this is a "quiet time".

Not sure when quiet period is but my son visited his top DIII choice campus and met with the coach last Friday, and they've spoken twice on the phone since then. The coach seems very aware of the rules.

The quiet time means they cannot look at prospects off campus--but they can call and the recruits can visit ON campus. Besides, I'm not sure there is a true "quiet time" on the D-III calendar.

I do not believe that the quiet time prohibitions apply to DIII.

They do not---we will see a load of Division II and III schools this week at a tournament this weekend in Scranton, PA

Here is the scenerio that prompts my questions. son was seen at recent showcase event in Pa and was approached by div 3 coaches who then followed up with detailed letters, questionnaire and requests to call. Son returned calls and then hears nothing back. What next?

Quiet time does not apply to DIII, if they haven't called back there could hundreds of reasons including out on the road recruiting, family time, fall schedule is starting for school, and baseball. I wouldn't be overly concerned call them if you get worried.

As we learned, some Div III coaches also coach a second sport, so they may be busy with football, s****r or cross country!

We have seen delays of up to a month between contacts and then out of the blue an invite to a weekend. If it is a school your son is interested in keep the contacts going, email or phone. Requests for transcripts and SAT scores usually come after they get the questionnaire. Followed by a call inviting your son to visit, if they see your son as a good fit. At least that is the pattern we have seen so far.

Marina...would not be concerned....busy time right now for all coaches.....Fall ball.....

.....when son narrowed his choice schools down to a few....he pursued the coaches....and kept at it until he reached them.....don't think they were avoiding him.....just busy.....and he is now playing ball at one of those schools....

LadyNmom - I think this is good advice. I have seen many posts this summer and fall where people seem disappointed their phone lines are not burning up. In some cases, people can wait for an opportunity that may never come or be more proactive and possibly create their own opportunity. This whole process can work out just the same with some or all of the action being driven from the player's end. I have said before, when we found a school that we were interested in, we recruited them. I am sure there is some luck involved either way but at the end of the day you want to know that you did every thing in your power to make things happen.
