I would appreciate hearing from folks familiar with D2 and D3 schools, along the eastern seaboard as to which of these schools are known for having great school spirit, clubs, all the other things that would complement the academics and the baseball team. 2013 son is putting his list together for college visits over the coming year and we do not know much about the schools in those divisions.

University of Tampa has a plethora of clubs and activities. Great spirit and atmosphere, as well as a beautiful downtown campus

My son rarely gets to fully appreciate these aspects of student life as his time, apart from attending classes, is spent at the baseball field or in the training room.

For a non athlete I can see the value of these peripheral aspects of student life.

My son expects to be a starter, and a contributor. His experience has been that whether it be spring, fall, summer or winter, his focus outside of classes and studying is getting better at his sport. This really leaves little time for socialization outside of his baseball "fraternity". As a team they will attend an occasional Girls Volleyball or Girls Basketball game, but that is about it.

If a player is interested in being on a college baseball team, but not feverishly wishing and expecting to be the best player he is capable of being, and being a back up player, that individual may have time for the pleasantries of the college experience.

I believe that this is par for the course, at least in a competitive D-2. I am not sure about D-3, they may be a little more relaxed.

I apologize for being harsh. I just want to be clear that the players that play, rarely have time to appreciate the aspects of the college experience you post requests information on.

Have to agree with floridafan, son just finished his fall JUCO season, 20 games. Also has 6:30am workouts 4 days a week, classes, study hall and practice everyday. Nothing changed after the season except instead of practice they have conditioning everyday. He attended a few volleyball games with the team, a golf tournament fundraiser and some all you can eat wing nights and that was about it. No time for social at this level and I think thats the way the coaches want it. They want their players staying busy with baseball and school and afterall that's why they're their anyway.
