Not sure if this has been posted before. It probably has but I couldn't find it with a cursory search of HSBBW so I thought I'd post it.  I was looking for enrollment sizes at Div III schools and found LOTS of info at this link. If you're patient you'll find not only enrollment sizes but admission rates and lots of other info presented in tables that list schools BY CONFERENCE and including ALL sports.  Pretty fun for stats junkies.

Smoke, this is great.  I have not seen it before.  You would have absolutely made my day if A) the data was a little more current and B) the data was in Excel format so that it could be sorted by various criteria.  But I may try to extract and put portions into Excel if I can't see the info I'd like simply by eyeballing it.

Speaking of which -- here's what I'm  particularly interested in teasing out of this and other data:  D3 schools that fit most or all of the following criteria:

  • medium high to high academic, though necessarily elite.
  • enrollment of 2K plus  -- better yet 3K plus.
  • located in or near an urban area.
  • known to meet 100% or close to 100% of demonstrated need, and/or school that grants significant merit aid.
  • Western US, or, if east, not too far north of the Mason-Dixon line. (not a dealbreaker)
  • Reasonable success or prospects of success for the baseball program.
  • Decent baseball and fitness facilities.

You can go to http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_search/ and enter most of your search criteria. It doesn't have the answer to your last two baseball specific questions, so after getting the list you'll have to dig up the baseball facilities and baseball program info.

I found these two sites to have the most objective data points available because these are the numbers self reported back to Dept of Education.   My two favs:

http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/Index.aspx.

Go to either :

1) Get data for one institution or

2) Get aggregated data for a group of institutions.

This includes Financial information (revenue and expenses), and the data is downloadable for college athletics across any NCAA level or NAIA.

College Navigator is slo priceless in determining academic ranges..  http://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/

Additionally, sites like HSBBWeb and College Confidential were able to fill in the blanks for subjective data, and poster experience with a college program or situation.
