Here is the listing for this year's NCAA regional qualifiers and provides a snap-shot of the top teams for 2007. Obviously, this list changes from year to year, but some teams seem to be on it practically every year. Congrats to all the teams who have made it!

Do my guys at CNU get a gold star because they played the entire bracket at Ferrum, except Villa Julie? Of course, had we done better than 4-7 against the field, that would've helped.

I had the impression our guys played a decent schedule, so 11 out of 41 games against qualifiers
isn't too bad.

I learned something too; I thought Villa Julie sounded like a French cooking school..they were #2 in their conference tourney but winner wasn't eligible so a nice bump for them.

hokie - I agree. I think the kids look forward to playing tough schedules like that. One team on the list (Austin) had a sub .500 record I see which seems unusual. I am assuming they played a really tough schedule
CD, just saw this thread and your post. I posted this elsewhere so hopefully it will provide a bit of insight into the pandemonium that is the DIII selection process.

"Texan, the NCAA, at the DIII level, doesn't quite work like we might think it should.
DIII has three pools from which teams are selected. Pool A are the winners of conference tournament championships. Austin College is now part of the SCAC and ended up winning the post season tournament to earn the DIII regional automatic bid for that conference in pool A.
Pool B is 6 bids which get distributed to teams that are indpendents like Chapman, Washington U and the like.
Pool C is about 14 or so bids which the NCAA awards out of the remaining 320 or so DIII teams. Out of the SCAC, Millsaps and Rhodes did not get Pool C bids even though they beat a number of teams that did get bids and even though there were the 2 best teams during the SCAC regular season. Each won over 35 games this year. Unless and until DIII increases the number of teams in post season play, the chances of not getting the best teams is very much increased when you get upsets in the post season tournaments."

BTW, these berths were announced around 2a.m. this morning and teams need to travel from TX to Southern CA and be on the field ready to play by Wednesday at 9:30am.
Even worse, their families need to try and find open seats on an airline and likely pay some large fares to watch their sons. It isn't easy, but we found that it is do able and truly enjoyable.
tourney just ended with Kean University as the Champs. Congrats to all.

I presume this will get one line in our local paper on the last page buried under the volleyball scores. College baseball gets no coverage in our paper- the Los Angeles Times- earlier last week they reported Emory, who played in the final, as being eliminated. D-1 doesn't get much more coverage nor does D-2 even with Cal State LA in the d-2 world series this year.
