It is a compliment to all of the pitchers mentioned to be named in a discussion like this (e.g, who is the best of the best).
I agree Texan -- this may be an off-base discussion because the HS match-up will not occur, but I think mentioning JS and CG in the same sentence is certainly legitimate -- and, as you said, a compliment to both.
Lions,
Check their birth certificates. Both will turn 18 this summer from what I understand. JS is just a year behind CG in school. Just goes to show you how good a pitcher someone like CG is considering he will be throwing against college players or professionals next year when others his age will still be throwing high school ball.
Like I said, nothing against JS as he is a very good player.

I think they are both excellent players and above all fine young men. There is no reason to compare the two. I think CG is an excellent pitcher and the players I have talked would least like to face him of any one they have ever seen in Dallas.
Lions,
I second your last post.

Actually they have two ties and overall they are 14-0-2....but that's the media for ya!

hmm i like that saying...i wonder where i have seen it before
We have played Rowlett and Rockwall and I would pick Rowlett because of hitting and pitching. I would even say that Rowlett will probably beat Naaman, just my opinion . We face Naaman tomorrow and probably Haney!

Having played both Rowlett and Naaman and seen aces for both and all their hitting...I would take Rowlett over Naaman when they play...The hit columns will be low though!
Longtoss,
You are wrong on Point A. Trinity Christian has already played RL Turner twice and beaten them both times .
Look at the list below of PCA players and where they would go to public school and tell me you don't think they would start if they were at their "geographic" high school.
Cameron Rupp - Plano West
Hunter Hill - Plano West
Chay Lytle - Plano West
Jordo Swagerty - Naaman Forest or somewhere in Garland, I think
just to name a few.
What most of the better private schools have is about 5-6 position guys that could start at a 4A or 5A school and 1 or 2 pitchers. What they don't have is depth. So coaches don't have the luxury of playing a guy at what may be his best position (see Rupp in the OF last year), they play guys where it helps the team the most - which, at the end of the day is what the game is all about.

JS bat and his pop time is what will get him drafted. One of the most live bats from both sides of the plate I've seen.
Late bedtime.
Slow day....is it the calm before the storm or is everyone busy doing the anti-rain dance?
Busy doing the anti rain dance
I would like to see the results this year of the top ten 4A teams VS top ten 5A teams. How many times have these match ups happened this year? Sounds like a good home work project for someone. Some of these 4A teams are really tough.

good work, interesting too, any way you can post who beat who and scores? pretty please
My guess is the elite 5A teams, say 1-7 or 10 are better than the top 4A teams. That is not to say the 4A teams couldn't pull off the victory on any given day. Pitching match-ups have so much to do with it. If you put 5A vs 4A with only their no. 1 & no. 2 it might be interesting. I'm sure 5A would win the majority, but 4A would get a few as well.

Panther Dad - I noticed that too. Guess its that golf theory at work: If you want to play better golf, play with better golfers.
Sorry
Its all about the coaching

It's not only a golf theory.
Waxahachie beat Keller at Keller in the Baylor Tournament.
Lots of big corn fed boys on that team, and they can play a little baseball too.

Let's hope it's just corn, kd.
Waxahachie had a lopsided defeat over Grapevine last week at Rangers Ballpark.
BAAACK I have no doubt Prestonwood has a ton of talent, and anyone familiar with area kids know you all have some good ones. However, I have a hard time believing that you guys intimidate the 4A and 5A programs to a point where they won't play ya'll. Saying that the teams on Flower Mound's schedule wouldn't beat you is a bold statement when you guys are playing a large majority of your games against small TAPPS programs. You aren't even playing the top private schools when you are expected to have your best team ever; rather you are playing the Ovilla Christian's, Trinity Valley's and Sheltons of the world. I would be ashamed to make those bold statements when your team hasn't had a chance to prove itself against good competition. Beating those teams by 10 runs doesn't get you any better. Go play Flower Mound, Coppell, Highland Park, whoever, and then do your mouthing. Otherwise don't call those teams out because you guys want to go undefeated and play a soft schedule. I get the impression you have a special team, loaded with talent, and that is great; however when you get down to it against 2nd Baptist, Midland Christian, whoever in the State Tournament, youre going to have to play a flawless game to win, and when you run up against a Chris Withrow, things are gonna be significantly different than you've grown accustomed with your patsy schedule. I know you all have a class school and a good baseball program. I really hope it doesn't come back to bite you. But please, don't mouth off and call out bigger, higher quality programs, when you have no idea how you would do against them because lets face it.....you aren't playing anyone.
