Honestly all this "extra" stuff - internet profiles, video, personal letters - can help or be of no service.

There is no tried and true method for being recruited other than being seen by the coaches. Some coaches use these things like video and profiles while others don't. It's truly a hit or miss scenario.

If you are fishing for schools then by all means keep the profile up to date and send videos because it doesn't hurt anything. If you are targeting specific schools then find out what they want and how to be recruirted.

scdigger- He has his set to private, I see that there is a link that can be copied for public profiles, do you know how to send a link that can be viewed when the file is private?
I honestly don't think coaches scour websites looking for recruits. While I believe a personal website may be one of the best recruiting tools available, its use is limited to coaches who already have your name, either from you contacting them, or them hearing of you and googling you.

I have very little faith in a recruiting service being able to attract the initial attention necessary to get a coach to look at your profile or website. They are simply inundated with these type of promotions and without some kind of scouting information accompanying it, (like a PG ranking, or a headline proclaiming Ranked #1 prospect at XYZ showcase), it carries no weight with a recruiter.

That's where marketing comes in, when you have a marketable talent that the recruiter genuinely wants. While the adage, if you're good enough they'll find you, is a falacy...just as overused is, you have to market yourself to the coaches. Really, you have to have something worth marketing, and then once you do, then the marketing aspect is nothing more than bringing that to their attention effectively.
