To quote or not to quote, that is the question.

At school I encourage quotes in order to discourage plagiarism.

That's not a problem on this forum because there are limited profound statements. I'm kidding!!!!!

I think the problem is not quoting, but the misuse of the quote. It should be used for emphasis, yet tactical enough to provoke thought.

How's that for a line of excrement, Doc? Wink
Doc,

I'm hoping OPson learned his skills from you outside the classroom, say in the field. Otherwise, he wasn't paying attention.

Of course, whom are me too be talk'n bout typ'n an grammer skills....

However, to quote the late-great Mark Twain, "A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way."

Disclaimer: OPson, I just used you as an example because you encouraged Doc's teaching. I'm sure you're a great student both in and out of the classroom!

Actually OPson missed me by a year but one of our seniors last year kept telling him to get the retired Coach to give him a quote to live by. That senior got the Will Rogers classic when he was an 8th grader in my camp. Will said "I never heard of a man listening himself out of a job" OPson is still waiting on his personal quote. I'm waiting till one fits him like a glove.

Doc,

I just can't help myself.......habits are hard to break!

Stix,

Thanks for clearing things up. I just thought you got your info from the young HS crowd. Guess it's the older crowd.

BTW......We miss all you guys in Rockwall. We had a great year.....well, almost.......10 months there in Rockwall. It was a wonderful time we will never forget. Great people in Rockwall!! Tell Coach Payne hello if you see him. He's never on here anymore.......unless he's got a new alias of course.

Bye
