This question was posed on another website I visit and nobody seemed to know the answer. So am hoping one of our gurus can help:

Scenario: A HS kid is a football and baseball player. He "signs" to play football in college at a 4 year school that does NOT have a baseball team. In June, he gets drafted by an MLB club, but he does not sign with the club. Instead, he chooses to go to college and play football.

The question is: does the MLB club who drafted him still hold his draft rights? In other words, since he is not competing in baseball, even tho he is attending college, would he still be eligible to sign with the MLB team before the next draft?

Thanks, Gurus ...
