By the way, the last two 4th quarter drives in the playoffs for Tom Brady have not been impressive. Last year against the colts and this year against the GMEN.
Tom Brady is a great QB but he is no Joe Montana.
The goal is to win championships. Eli Manning led his team to a championship. How many championships did Marino win with Miami? The list is a long one of great players who never did it. If he never wins another one they can never say he couldnt win the big one again. The kid took all the mouth and all the criticism from so many people and he did it with class. He went out and he did what he had to do. His performance speaks for itself. It really doesnt matter what anyone thinks now does it? How many championships did Tiki Barber win? Where is his big mouth now? Eli earned his respect. Im very happy for the kid.
CoachMay,
Exactly.
He - and his team - got the job done.
The "ifs" and "what could have beens" - and all the rest of the BS mean nothing.
It's the real beauty of any competition - in any sport - IMO.

I was thinking in the fourth quarter there could be an opportunity for Brady to join Montana in another class. Taking his team down the field in the last few minutes to win his fourth Super Bowl would have put him in Montana's class.quote:Tom Brady is a great QB but he is no Joe Montana.
The Patriots have the best offense ever and lost in the last minutes with their defense on the field. The previous greatest offense (Rams) lost in the last minutes to the Patriots with their defense on the field. They both had good defensive teams, but not good enough to get it done. The offense can't score if kept off the field.
One of my first thoughts after the game was the Giants won without Barber. It was addition (team morale) by subtraction (Barber's attitude). For what media reports are worth I've read in the past Barber was a PITA in the locker room.quote:How many championships did Tiki Barber win? Where is his big mouth now?
Who is Tiki Barber?
LOL
LOL
Here you go Tiki.
Choke on it. LOL

I was really happy to see Eli lead the Giants to the win. It was a great game. I also like Brady, and I think he WILL go down as one of the all time great QB's.
Brady led his team down the length of the field to take the lead. He was rushed like crazy all night long, and still managed a QB rating in the 80's. No picks. Romo and Favre didn't withstand that rush nearly that well.
In the end, the Giants D-line was clearly the difference in the game. I would have been happy with either team winning, because either team winning makes a great story.
But I am happy for Eli Manning, because he overcame such intense criticism, and just kept his head down and prevailed. How cool is that?
