There is nothing written in stone that says summer ball is free.

Generally, established teams and leagues work real hard to raise funds for their players. Parents are paying huge tuition costs, so most will try to do all they can for the player to be able to afford to come.

Mileage is given for travel and players need to pay a nominal fee for room and board. They can work if they want.

Is this an established league recognized by the NCAA? Or just a summer league? What league is it?

My son's summer experience cost us very little out of pocket compared to whatever we paid in HS for summer ball. I honestly think it was less than 400-500 dollars for the entire summer (extra spending money, gas, gym fees, travel expenses not covered). Working the camp program and clearing rocks from the field (about 10 hours a week) helped cover the 50 a week room and board.

a few years ago a few of us got together to buy an necbl franchise. it cost between 70k and 90k to run a team with travel etc,.travel at that time was around 18k,but i think they changed to two divisions with a little less travel. i talked with college leagues all over the country with about the same cost's. some less some more. but none mentioned a revenue from players. times have changed but if you got 3k from 20 kids that pays the frieght. but then you'd only get kids with money.

i didn't think the ncaa had anything to do with summer ball anymore? but i may be mistaken.
The ACBL, or atleast our team charged players nuttin for housing and they were giving a job working baseball camps for the Phillies.
Apparently they took some $$ out of our
checking to pay for dorm rooms at UPENN. If we drove to any games we get reembursed for milagae. Others games we took a grey hound bus.

Except for one weird player whose dad drove him to all the away games.

Not sure how some of our other bills got paid, just that our groundskeeper wore a 3 piece suit and said forgetaboutit alot.

So I am going to be totally shameless here and use this to promote the Triple Crown League in Fort Collins, CO. There is no league fee whatsoever and since we are recruiting mostly local CO players, most of them are playing completely for free. If anyone's interested send me a PM.

TG03...

Did you speak with Coach Kaz from USAFA? If not, please PM me with your phone number or private email address, and I will get you in touch with each other. The timing is "more than right" right now, for you to pick up a number of these fine young players.

My son played last summer in the SCBL for the Morganton Aggies. We had a $400 players fee and $260 for rent for the summer. He had a job working for the city of Morganton and loved it. We were not out much money for him....now when we went to see him we would spend a small fortune!!! I think it was one of the best things my son has ever done he grew up and adapted to living and bonding very quickly with guys from everywhere. He says he has friends for life from that team. I know he talks regularly with his coach also.
